I started the Walter Isaacson biography of Einstein, it's too gee-whiz for me and I probably won't finish it.

I Am Legend is incredible. The movie versions can't touch it. It's one of the few books that truly scare the hell out of me.
I loved In the Heart of the Sea by Philbrick but Sea of Glory and Mayflower didn't grab me as much. |

I thought I am legend was the biggest POS out there.
I'm sure it was good for its time, but now...just blech. What am I missing? |

A Preferred Blur-Henry Rollins
Shadow Kiss-Richelle Mead American Lion-Andrew Jackson in the White House-Jon Meacham I usually read 3 at a time, pick up whichever one i'm in the mood for. Just read Columbine by Dave Cullen, it was excellent. |

I Am Legend is terrifying. Every movie version seems to change how completely alone he is, or the setting to something less scary and isolating. That's
what gets to me, how alone he is, truly the last man in the world and doomed. I don't know, I guess we just have different tastes.

Okay...I see what you're saying.
I just didn't like the writing. I thought the fact that he kept getting hard-ons for the zombie/vampire women clawing at his house was just a little bit over the top. It was like the author had just discovered sex - it was like it was written by StudMuffin. I mean, really. Wouldn't a cannibal vampire zombie woman who wants to eat you alive make you go soft, even if just for a minute? |

The whole message of I am Legend was so different from the movies that I don't think anyone involved with either film had actually ever read the book.
The writing was over the top but the concept at the end was interesting. |
