I quit smoking using the Chantix drug

I added my own twist to how the drug works: I made myself quit having a smoke with that first cup of coffee in the morning. I got to the point that I wasn't having my first smoke of the day until 10 am I made myself stop having a smoke after eating. I would wait at least an hour. If I want a smoke after sex, I just have sex again--either with my wife or my hand. I do have to warn those of you who follow my method--there will be a bad day. You will want that shit bad. You have to be strong and shout at the devil.
Yesterday, I almost caved. Today was easy.

I did Chantix for a month. I started the drug on June 1st, quit smoking on June 7th. I haven't had so much as a puff since that date.
That said, there have been some killer days, even up to this week. I'm a firm believer in the Chantix though. |

APG, was your Rx covered by your prescription plan? If so, how bad was the co-pay?
I am a weak willed woman with virtually no impulse control. I'm not sure that I can live w/o cigs AND w/o credit cards. I'm sure as hell not picking up a credit card again. Do you think this drug could help me? |

I quit 6 1/2 years ago using the patch for 2 weeks and then just sucking it up and going cold turkey .. I HOPE TO NEVER SMOKE AGAIN ... EVER.
I have not had one nor will I because one leads to two leads to three and then whammo you smoke again. I got very sick in week three of quitting when my lungs decided to cough some of that shit out .. wasn't pretty but once I got past that it was way better and I started to feel so much beter. Peeps hang in there!! |

You were lucky, Sash. My insurance pays none of it. It's over $100/month. After a year, it will have payed for itself and then some. Thereafter, I'll
be saving about $50/month.

My insurance covered it too, and my co-pay was 35.00. I'm not sure they'll cover it a 2nd time, but I should still have days 31-60 and 61-90 for that
cost at the pharmacy.
Tres, it blocks the *feel good* and craving receptors to the brain. It's really worth a try APG, will you stay on it the full 90 days or are you off it now? |

good luck with the stop smoking, but watch for problems and stop the drug ASAP if they show up. I got painful knees and hips from the drug, it
does permanent damage too. I got weak and had muscle cramps in legs, etc thought I might have flu, it wasn't it was the drug. It caused a permanent cramp
in my upper shoulder blades that is still here. It also effected my vision and made me wipe out the left side of my car at the drive in. Be very cautious with
this drug.
