The other interns teased him that he was deadly or something. And they made sure to make a mention of it in the beginning of the episode, just to make sure us viewers would get it. I'm sure if they don't both die, which ever one doesn't will only be around another season anyways.

Unless they were like high school sweet hearts anyway. She was likely a medical student and all that when they first knew each other. Two more years of residency weren't going to kill them...

It would be kind of stupid for them to go with such a soap casting stunt and to also repeat a move they've already done once in the series. However, if it's a one or the other scenario (I didn't watch the episode, but it's what I'm gathering from the comments in the thread) then they may go with it to both let Izzy go and keep "George". Whatever, I stopped watching after about the 3rd episode of "ghost sex" this season, so I'll probably have to marathon on the ABC site or wait until the DVDs to really understand all this crazy shit.

I thought the last hour of the finale was superb. And an excellent "fuck you" to Knight. To actually kill off an orignal cast member by throwing them under a bus is hysterical. And then add to that the fact that he was non-exisistant throughout the entire final hour was another genius stroke. Bravo, writers! Bravo! It most have been so statifying for the writers to get their revenge on Knight. My bets are on O'Malley not making it through surgery. Knight is deadweight. His connections to the other characters are frayed. And the idea of him going through extensive rehab only to ship off to the Army would be pointless. Yes, people if he recovers he still has to report to the Army. If he can still perform his medical duties then he can still be an asset to the Army. I almost didn't hate Heigel at all during the finale. The combination of the writing and her acting has really made me turn a corner with her character. I honestly think Izzy will pull through. She's still a very popular character and her inter-character relations are much stronger than O'Malley's. Plus, her her agents and Miss Uber-Bitch have finally gotten the memo that her diva attitude has stalled her movie career. The PR about-face is comical. What I think will happen is that ABC will keep her ass on Grey's for another year then write her off. Heigel is still a draw on the show. And her character's turn on Grey's has won back some of the fans she lost during her diva meltdown. But most importantly, the behind the scenes peeps will want to work with her again if she eats her humble pie this upcoming year on the show because it'll make her "difficult to work with" label fade just a little. I can totally see ABC and Shonda making Knight and Heigel resign just so the secret doesn't slip out before the season premiere too. They could both be given half season orders, which would be sweet too. And I will count myself as one of the fooled until the end viewers. I totally thought is was Meredith's father that got run over by a bus.

Last year House just knew there was something important and he just couldn't remember what until he did, whereas with this there was none of that, it was just some horribly mangled guy got brought in and they didn't know who he was until he wrote on Meredith's hand. SO maybe a little, but definitely not a complete ripoff.

Chyler Leigh was apparently very pregnant at the time they were filming that and it was probably easier to put their storyline on the backburner in favor of the others. I think there's still a lot they can do next season with all the couples.

Looking back, the constant mention of George every few seconds is just a testament to how "extra" the character has become. That said, I don't think Grey's has had a better meta moment than the George character almost literally being thrown under the bus (especially since the character has been roadkill figuratively for the better part of the last three seasons). I don't know what T.R. Knight's future holds, but if he makes it on to another successful show, I hope nobody gets the bad idea to make him into a leading man, whether that's something he pushes for or as the cog in the revenge machine from the Evil Stepmother Headwriter. I think Izzie survives (meh) and George dies (meh) and I don't see them recasting someone else in the part as a reconfigured George. Worked for Ava because nobody knew what the bitch looked like before her accident. Wouldn't have worked for Burke and it's not going to work for George. It's an established character. If Knight's not gonna do it, then no one should.

I would make a mean comment about how you all are retards for watching a show with so many characters/actors that you absolutely despise. But then I still watch Nip/Tuck and I often find myself throwing things at the TV and yelling at the characters for their stupidity.

In mid of season 2 when Meredith was deep in her uber-annoying/whiny/every fan wants her dead phase, the show basically became George's Anatomy and was never again as good as it was at that time. George was, and still can be an excellent character. He has a lot of potential story lines for next season; recovering from the bus crash, going back to practicing medicine after his recovery, Izzy's death, a relationship with the woman he saved.
