She's arrogant as fuck but she's a great singer and Simon always likes to say it's a singing competition, unless of course his favorite isn't the best singer, then it's about personality Ruben is a great singer but he's very one deminsional and boring to watch. Kim Locke IMO is a good singer but her voice isn't a pure sounding as Treynece or even Clay's. Clay is a great singer for sure and in watching this week it struck me that Simon pegged it right on the nail with Clay being a fantastic broadway performer. He's very theatrical in his delivery and mannerisims. I actually thought Carmen did really well with that song, save the goat notes here or there. I thought it was really rude and uncalled for for Randy to say she wasn't good enough to be in the competition, esp with Josh still in there. Josh...man he sucks. I like his current music and his first album so it's a shock to me that he shocked this badly on Idol.

Kelly has since released another album and Carrie has sold 3 million plus with her first album as well as 2 million from her new one." The numbers are so out of date. Carrie has actually sold 6.3 million of her first album plus 2 million on the second one.

I'm pretty sure it's the Neil Sedaka week and see what Simon says to her. And it's the week where Neil Sedaka actually jizzes in his pants when Clay oversang "Solitaire". It's pretty funny. You can actually pinpoint the exact point when Neil hits climax.

But the Karen Carpenter version was and still is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in my life. I hated everything about his overwrought version and was an insult (to me) to Karen's haunting and stunning version of the song.

He looked GREAT and sang very well, and I agreed 100% with Simon's comments that night. Clay's performance of Solitaire was the first song I ever downloaded!! ETA: But the Karen Carpenter version was and still is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in my life I can understand why you wouldn't like Clay's version if you like Karen's. I don't like Karen's version at all, but I LOVE the full, rich sound of Clay's interpretation. I think most can agree it is a terrific song, regardless of which singer you enjoy!! Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	To me, one of the more distinctive things about the second season is that there were no shocker eliminations. Everybody after Charles had already been in the bottom before getting the boot (Final 2 doesn't count). And most of the eliminations at least sort of made sense (though Vanessa's was probably more for her unflattering sleeveless dress and clown makeup than her singing, and KimberME easily outsang Caaaarmen on her last night). I still haven't figured out how Corey could have gotten voted into the top 12 for his wretched semifinals performance. Paula obviously had (has?) more influence on the vote results than we knew...

Ruben - sounded really good on both Trenyce - sounded good and great Clay - sounded awesome on both Josh - dreadful, poor guy Kim - good and excellent. WTBA was her best performance, IMO I'm still amazed that Trenyce went home instead of Josh. He was likeable, though, and I think I might have to buy his new album next week.

This episode of Rewind was really hard to watch knowing it was Trenyce's last week. She was phenomenal and Simon's drag comment really didn't help her at all. I think that's partially what did her in. Josh was so terrible week after week, and for him to have stayed over her when she was so fantastic, was just lousy. Watching Rewind really reminded how much I liked Trenyce, and how much better I even remember her being. I thought Kim did well this week, she certainly was on a high. Ruben was the same as always, so him making the bottom two was no surprise. Trenyce <3

Ruben - there is just something about his voice that I absolutely love.... his performances skills suck balls though.... Treynece - wow...just wow.... she really did great and Simon's comment about the performance reminding him of a drag show really wasn't necessary or honest. (side question...when did her shoplifting past come to light?) Josh - you know what's funny about Josh is that I LOVE his music now....he's got some great songs and I'd call myself a fan...however, he's yet to impress me during this entire season on idol and I'm confused as to how he made it to the top 4 except the Marine thing. Kim - her voice bugs the shit out of me.... she seems to sing through her nose...or is that just my hearing aid going fuzzy? Not to mention she's so arrogant in her Rewind interviews.... did she have that attitude on the show? If you didn't know better you'd think she won with the "I'm so amazing" attitude she's exudes. Clay - ok...I'm a dork but Build Me Up Buttercup as ALWAYS been one of my favorite songs and now it's stuck in my head LOL.... Solitare was amazing... the lighting really did set the mood of the song and I was glad Clay addressed that it was his idea. I don't get his fans continued bitching that Clay wasn't pimped by the judges...I think the pimping between Ruben and Clay was pretty equal. I can honestly say had I watched Season 2 I'd have been voting for Clay.... oh and as an aside...his eyes are breathtakingly beautiful (hence the Ilovegreeneyes nic....) ....

I liked her anyway, and wanted her in the Top Two with Clay, from about Top Five on. Post-idol, I've liked her less and less because of her antics plus the fact that I haven't liked any of her music at all. Ruben, on the other hand, I didn't like much at all during the season, but he has grown on me year by year to the point that I kind of love him now, and wish he would put out an album of music I could enjoy so that I could help him out with a CD sale. I still don't understand why Trenyce was never given a recording contract. Josh was terrible through most of the season (he'll surprise you on TLS, though), and she was amazing. I think maybe the problem was that she never "found her style" as Mr. Sedaka said. I always thought that Simon gave Clay some pretty good props, but he also ragged on him a few times when I didn't think he deserved it whatsoever (and a time or two when he did). But he does that to pretty much everyone, so I don't despise Simon just for Clay's sake. I thought the joke he made against Ruben's outfit was mean and hateful. And he says appalling things in interviews about the contestants which I can't believe he gets away with, either. He's an ass most of the time, IMO.

He didn't do so well because he was a fish out of water, IMO. If he had been in the later seasons where Country became accepted as a valid style, I think he would have done better than just top 4. I too have grown very fond of Ruben. I didn't dislike him then either, I just didn't think he should have won. He has revealed himself to be a very sweet and classy guy over the years, kind of like his friend, Clay.

Seemingly Lashundra the shoplifter came out of hiding at the wrong time though, because I heard she made such a bad personal impression that the deal didn't go through. Maybe she just asked for too much money upfront, or maybe it was simply a sucky deal, she passed, and then nothing better came along. I'm amazed Josh wasn't in the bottom 2 on top 5 night instead of Reuben (and so was he--you all saw how he had his head down until Trenyce was bumped). He was awful on both songs, especially Bad Blood. This demonstrates yet again how being in the bottom 2 the week before gets your supporters to vote their asses off the next week. KLo is bitchy all right, but she's LIKABLY bitchy. During the second season she looks like she'd be a fun person to hang with (not so much in the new season's interview/restaurant clip). Reuben was great on the show, but his first 2 CDs were meh and his newest CD is one of the worst EVER by any Idol alumni, almost totally unlistenable. Terrible songs, horribly arranged and melisma'd to death.

This week was interesting. Ruben... I thought he outshone everyone. His performance of "how do you mend a broken heart" was fucking awesome! He still performs like he's got a stick up his ass but damn that guy can sing!! Kimberly - damn she's an arrogant douche! Who the fuck is she to say when anyone should go home? if that's the case she should've went home several times and most certainly in the top 4! Josh - wow....hated Jive Talkin....but I hate that song anyway so no surprise there. But I loved loved loved his "to love somebody" His was so much more honest and heartfelt than Clay's. He actually "got" this song totally and completely and it showed! Clay - his "to love somebody" was oversung and he just plain ole sucked all the sentiment and feelings right out of it with is glory noting. Grease was funny and I liked his lil dance moves.... overall I thought Bee Gees night was pretty good! They have an amazing catalog of songs that's for sure.
