Two of the scariest short stories by SK are Grandma and Children of the Corn, IMO. Grandma is really short, but scared the fuck out of me. I swear I felt
the kids fear. But Children of the Corn still horrifies me to this day. The first couple of times I read it, I could only skim it. Forget the movie.....it
sucked. Go back and read the original story. It is a horror masterpiece.
He also has a story about the boogey man or somekind of monster that hides in the kids closet. I haven't read it in years, but I remember that the father remembered the monster from his own childhood and was incapable of helping his kid. He let the monster have the kid, so that it wouldn't come after him. Pretty sick stuff.
