But wait, Mr. Gray in Dreamcatcher's physical form is different than IT's Original Form of the Spider/Dead Lights. How can they be one in the same
besides Derry/Gray Connection? And also Mr. Gray asks Jonsey who Pennywise is.

the mr. gray/pennywise thing: i assume they are the same. when beverly meets the 'lady' that lives in her fathers apartment the 'lady' mentions
mr. gray. i don't have the exact wording but he did appear in 'it'.

overall, sk is my favorite author. i do have to admit though, in my life i've only never finished 3 books that i picked up to read. one of them was the
tommyknockers. hated it. didn't like dreamcatchers either but i did finish it.
my favorite book is the stand. it's what started it all for me, it was my first encounter with randall flagg. i love the green mile, salem's lot, the dark tower series, insomnia. almost everything he's written. his short stories, hoo boy, some of them have actually scared me. the mist, the raft, survivor type, the ten o'clock people. wow, i'm typing and feeling bad for having left out, it, apt pupil and cujo and one of my other favorites, the talisman. i love some of the lesser characters in his books, oy and wolf topping the list. |

I agree with Punkin that "Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" is certainly worth a read. I'm pretty sure it's the last good book he's written as I
think about making a 3rd attempt at starting Lisey's Story.
I've been a huge fan since junior high when a girlfriend loaned me her mom's copy of "Night Shift". Talisman is my favorite and I've read it at least 30 times. The Stand was tough to get through the first time, but I love that story. I love so many of the short stories I can't make a list. Right now, the first one that popped into my head is "Mrs. Todd's Shortcut" although "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption", "Jerusalem's Lot" and "The Raft" make me wiggle just to think about them. Last time I was really excited about a SK book was when Desperation/Regulators came out and I read them back to back. ... my geek is showing. :) I can't seem to get through the Dark Tower series. I struggled so hard with the first two books, I can't seem to motivate myself to read the rest. Please tell me it gets better and has a good payoff and I'll invest the time. |

Like the old stuff - The Shining, The Stand, Firestarter. Got tired of SK and stopped reading his books, although I did read The Green Mile.

Did you read The Green Mile in it's original short volumes set or the later released whole story form?

I like nearly all of his works, but my all time favorite is The Stand (uncut version). It's still one of my all-time favorite novels by any author.
Following that would be The Green Mile (I read it in the original 6 short novels), Carrie, It, Christine, Insomnia, Needful Things, and the short story
collections (Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Four Past Midnight, etc.) I was disappointed in Desperation, and absolutely hated Rose Madder. I thought the ending of
that was terrible.

I saw balloons that float against the wind.
Down here we all float. Boogie, keep in mind that there are 2 Mr. Greys - one in IT and one in Dreamcatcher. The Mr. Gray in IT is definitely Pennywise. I don't know about the one in Dreamcatcher, but the fact that he is in a different form from Pennywise in IT is no argument against that - IT can take whatever form IT wants, as long as that form is in the mind of IT's intended victim. Mr. Grey could have been the archetype of evil in that guy's mind in Dreamcatcher. |

The Stand
What's the one with the can opener? I gave up on King after Insomnia's first 4 chapters gave me insomnia.

Love Stephen King, but I don't think anybody here has mentioned my favorite yet. Desperation! If you have not read this one yet go do it and it will for
sure crack your top 5 lists. I also liked Dark Tower 4 (I think that the back story of Roland and his friends was better then most of the whole Dark tower
story). The Stand, Cell, and Rose Madder which is another one of the most forgotten Stephen King books.
