My city is kind of freaking out about Hurricane Dean and they are making me paranoid. Is it wrong that aside from worrying about whether or not my house will still be standing, I'm worried that my satellite will blow away and I won't get to watch my shows?  oh honey, satellite will be the last thing on your mind. Try no power for 3-4 weeks. Maybe more.

crap, they're going for broke on the news now: evecuation routes, shelters, supplies, etc. And a friend who recently bought a house in Galveston is boarding up now. and they just mentioned category 5, WTF? scream  panic

If a Cat5 hits Houston you can say "goodbye" to several very large insurance carriers. They won't be able to pay the losses with available funds
and will need to liquidate their reserves (fancy insurance talk for go out of bidness).

I didn't run last time, so I'll stay put this time. People forget that Houston is about 60 miles inland from the coast. I think if a hurricane hits the
coast at 180 mph, it's down to 100 by the time it's gone 60 miles inland

One of my earliest memories is of my father carrying me into a shelter during a hurricane in New Orleans. I had on a yellow rain
slicker.
