Probst said he'd never do another one, but after this Cooks Islands stunt, I'm not so sure MB will be able to resist a ratings ploy like ASS2. So what do you think? Will there be an ASS2?

Rumors are Steph, Rupert, and Cao Boi will be on it. Everyone else are hot chicks just to get the male demograhpic. |

I seriously doubt it. There are a few players I wouldn't mind seeing again; and I actually do think that ASS was kind of an experiment gone awry that could have been excellent if they had done it right. And it's not like I wouldn't watch and most likely be stoked before it debuted. I kind of thought they might do it for S14 (post-Super Bowl premiere) but I'm guessing we would have heard about something if that were the case.
Anyway, I'd rather see all returning players than mostly new and a couple of old ones. |

I'm still all for All Stars 2, despite how mediocre the first installment happened to be. The concept can definitely be done correctly. Have a tribe of All Winners, Strategic Threats, and Big Personalities. Also, don't cast C-listers like Cindy or Scout.

You know I wonder if ASS would have been different had they filmed it in a different season of Panama. From all the commentary tracks, it seemed like it was constantly cold and rainy, and that might have explained the strategic weakness of the season. Hard to talk strategy when you're usually huddled under a tarp freezing. I'm not saying that's the only reason why ASS is a bust, but I think it's one of the reasons.

Well Probst also said he was quitting Survivor a while back (and who did we think was going to be the new host? Kathy?), but that never happened.
It wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't done it prematurely, when they couldn't get the characters they needed (Colleen, Elisabeth) and other worthy characters hadn't had their debut yet (Ami, Steph, Cirie). |

It wasn't constantly raining in the rainforest though. In fact, the whole shelter caught on fire because there was so much dry firewood and the "rainforest" had gotten so arid. Rain has been a part of every Survivor season, but the rain seemed constant in the ASS2 season.

One of the problems with All Star was that they cast too many extreme personalities to maximize drama and conflict which supposedly makes for good television. What happened was that the cast ended up having a bad chemistry. So many cast members disliked other cast members that they were unable and unwilling to make the deals that were needed to shake things up. For example, maybe if Alicia, Tom and Shii Ann had been able to put up with Jenna Lewis, Romber would have been broken up. The other problem is of course that the previous winners and other power players were booted early.
No more seasons with returning contestants, please. Survivor works better with fresh faces. |

The only only thing they have to remember if they ever do another All Star is not to cast C-listers, not even as eyecandy. Nobody will consider them a threat (rightfully), they make non-entertaining wallpaper of themselves and they walk right to the end while everyone else uses them as pawns to take out larger targets. You can't have filler in All Stars. It just kills the entire spirit of the event.

My problem with All-Stars is that the best player MUST win, otherwise it's a complete dud. Hence "All Stars". But all of the winners and great players were voted out early.
Amber won ASS, and it looks like Erika's going to win BB7AS. Two mega-UTR players, it doesn't make a good image of what "All Stars" should be at all. I'd love an ASS2, though. I'd love to see quite a few people from Palau play again, Cirie, Ami, Aras, whoever. Just don't put any C-List contestants into the mix. |
