You know, I thought of "The Women" too, when Betty and Don explain that they're splitting up before she heads off to Reno. In that movie Mary (Norma Shearer) brings in her daughter (I think they just call her "Little Mary") to explain her impending marriage split before heading off to Reno. If you've never seen "The Women," check it out - the dialogue is still sharp and witty 70 years later.
