Good flick and prescient to today's civil rights troubles. If there's any justice in this world, pro-Prop 8 people will see it and realize how ludicrously wrong they are. I can't stand Penn but here's his finest hour and the Oscar should be his.

"The Times of Harvey Milk" is a much better film though. I was a typical juvenile homophobe until I saw it at some point in high school and it perhaps had more of an impact on me than any other movie I've ever seen. It'll probably be very hard to find unless it's reprinted and redistributed based on the new film's success.

By the way, Milk didn't seem to be a particularly competent politician. Had he lived he probably would have gone down on some scandal or another in the 80s.
