the son is in PA. pepaw and memaw moved to texas because their daughter's here. they're counting on her to help. hey, he got those 'big guns' so he could take care of joanne. he said he wants to use some of the money to help his grandkids (or maybe greatgrandkids?) with college but he wants to help his son, who's apparently gone through a lot of pepaw's money already. THIS money, i guess, will be well used, unlike the rest he's given him, which obviously wasn't. this son has to be around 50 years old.
his daughter is married to a doctor. she takes memaw to the store and the bank once a week. they live nearby.
Except in the movie the dad realizes he was an idiot to favor the loser son. Doubt Jerry will ever get a clue.
