Native Californian here. I only go back to visit my family. Every time I do I can't wait to leave. I do get homesick for San Francisco, the most beautiful city in the world. I have fond memories of places, but it is now so crowded I get panicky. Memories and the current reality are two different things. I have been on the east coast for 34 years. I have never thought of moving back. When I thought a transfer to SoCal was a probability, I became extremely depressed.

I also love the midwest.
