I think one can keep personal dignity on a reality show. Many people hide their real personalities and "put on a show", an exaggerated version of themselves. I'm an extreamly private person, but would appear on a reality show, maybe. I'm disapointed that my favorite movie critic, James Berardinelli, has such a low opinion of them.
