And that is exactly why I wanted Mochi to win. She NEEDS the win (and the money) much more than Cody. She's every bit as hard-working and talented as him, but he has certain genetic blessings that she just doesn't have. That's not her fault. Cody was going to have a great career either way. Mochi is going to have to work her ass off for less money and for less time before she is put out to pasture. It's sad...
I agree with Shirley that Mochi should have ditched the kimono entirely. Her dancing was SO MUCH LESS IMPRESSIVE in the performance than in the rehearsal. Why? Because you couldn't see all of the awesome shit she was doing with her body!!!
I think that the Gene Kelly comparison with Nick is a HUGE INSULT to the memory of Gene Kelly. Nick flat out isn't very good. I think a better comparison would be to a non-dancer who is taught relatively simple choreography for an event. Think Billy Crystal dancing at the Oscars. Yeah, Nick threw in a few more challenging moves, but most of his routine was so dumbed-down, and even then, not particularly well-executed... And his smile was so goofy and one note! Puh-leeze!
And Miguel was treated entirely too well. How can they give such a villain edit to somebody and even have the gall to show him saying that he is better than the other three and the only way they could beat him would be if it was because of his injury, and then deprive us of his comeuppance! I thought FOR SURE they were going to do a callout order and give him 4th place so that we could enjoy his bitchface sour grapes or his hysterical weeping or something...
I thought Cody has always been fascinating to watch. He's an awesome dancer. Tonight, he showed peronsality. I figured all he had to do is leap and smile and he would have won. Cody can be a lead dancer.
Mochi, while she is very very good, in my mind she's to short for someone taking center stage. I can see her getting dance parts that require "special groups." She's much better than dance chorus but she doesn't have enough presence to be front and center all the time.
