I don't really understand this statement. Is there any reason why she couldn't have been just as popular from the beginning if she is equally charming and talented? She got more screen time and more of a "story" in the audition rounds than ANY of the three guys you mentioned. Hell, in a way, she's been pimped since Season 5 when we were hearing that an Irish girl was the best. Carly had every advantage, but blew it because she is so desperate and abrasive and pathetic (not to mention that she doesn't sing very well). Jason, on the other hand pulled his popularity out of NOWHERE. He got absolutely no face time prior to the semis. His dreads have got to be as big an obstacle as Carly's tattoos (inasmuch as some may love them, but they are offputting to middle-of-the-road America). And yet, Jason managed to garner a STRONG fan base. Good on him! Lord knows I'm not a Jason fan, but he deserves credit for winning people over rather than alienating them as Carly did. She once again refuses to take any of the blame for her own shortcomings...
Or do you agree that it was simply because she was a woman that she couldn't be popular?
