Sounds like that "dumbass" was concerned less about who could outplay than who could outwit. Then again, it's water under the bridge now, so he probably doesn't care much about it, either.
The one event that could destroy Cirie's game that season: Aras winning immunity at the Final Four. It's one of those events you should be able to anticipate but couldn't possibly anticipate in millions.
In Micronesia, she went into the final 3 without having backstabbed her two closest allies, with the notion that a final 2 was completely retarded, given the fact that it would require an even-numbered jury.
