I love Stephen from Tocantins, but it did piss me off that Jaison wasn't even mentioned in his blog.

It's hard to talk about someone when they have no personality and little impact on the episode outcome.

survivorisdabest wrote:Little impact? He came up with the idea to get rid of Erik after Erik approached them with the fake ultimatum. If it were not for Jaison's instincts that Erik was lying and gunning for Jaison while also flushing out the Foa Four idol, I highly doubt Natalie would have focused her scrambling energy on Erik. Think about it. He gave her the correct direction based on an instinctual hypothesis, and she spun the getting Monica out story to implicate Erik. It turned out his hypothesis was correct! This does not negate Natalie's social game and pragmatic know how, but come on! You cannot possibly believe Jaison had no impact on the final outcome! |

I never said he had no impact, i said he had little impact which is true.

He still had more of an impact compared to Mick, Bret, Monica or Kelly, he had that hilarious argument with Erik at TC and he was one of the boot options.
Seems like an important part of the episode to me.

I just feel like people want Jaison to be the Osten 2.0 just because some guy who looked like him quit several seasons ago. I agree he did whine a lot
pre-merge FORGIVE HIM!! its a hard mental game Psychological game. Candice annoyed me in Cook Islands when she complained and cried about going to exile, but I
steel think she was the better female players that season and called Yul and Jonathan out on their bull.

It was Nat and the Galu girls that took out Erik. Erik was overplaying and painted a target on his back by doing so. Erik should have played low key and
assured the Galu girls to stick with a plan to vote out Jaison.

River50 wrote: It really seemed to me that Jaison put up Erik's name just out of spite. His "let the ball roll" mentality is the exact opposite of strategic. Natalie was the one who turned it into a working strategy by convincing Galu to go along with it. Anybody can come up with a name, and if you happen to mention the name of the person who gets voted out, that doesn't mean you're responsible for their elimination. On the other hand, I also agree that Natalie probably would have just accepted the Monica vote if not for Jaison, so he definitely deserves some credit. But the blog's about strategy, and I don't think it was a strategic play on his part. I was a major Jaison booster pre-game and I've been disappointed we haven't seen more good strategy from him. I really want to devote a blog to him or to Dave Ball, but there hasn't been the opportunity yet. I keep hoping that there's some more smart maneuvering to come from them now that they've merged. |

TheWizard wrote:Jaison didn't merely put out a name - he persuaded ALL of his tribe mates that his instincts were correct and that Erik was the one to vote for - otherwise they would have voted for Monica as Erik demanded. It wasn't spite. He knew he was in danger and on the chopping block going into the merge. This directed Natalie's efforts to swing some votes the the Foa Four way. And, in the long run, to the extent that Erik exposed himself as a completely patronizing jerk who was obviously still playing a tribal game rather than an individual game post merge, and add to that the fact that the votes went as Jaison suspected, Jaison was completely vindicated after TC. His tribe mates will be amenable to trusting his instincts in the future. As far as strategy goes while playing an individual game, it does not hurt when your instincts turn out to be correct, and that all was not for nothing! He did very well for himself, I just wish more people could see the subtleties of what he did. It reminds me of when someone in academics writes up some brilliant idea that someone else thought up and consequently grabs up all of the credit because they were more quick put the leg work to the idea and publish the research findings. It still wasn't their brilliant idea. They just knew how to make it work, and make it work fast. I'm so glad to hear of a blog possibly devoted to Jaison and Dave - and maybe I'm not as mad at you now. I like both Jaison and Dave (but I obviously like one of them more)! We can at least both hope that the two of them don't disappoint. |

River50 wrote:I am really opposed to the "having an idea for a name" = strategy school of thought. There is nothing but downtime on Survivor, and believe me every single person out there is constantly running every single scenario. Even the non-strategic players have their little fantasy games in their head. It's so easy to think, "Erik is mean. I want him out" and so hard to actually be the one to eliminate him. Having a brilliant academic idea doesn't equate, because there are no "brilliant" name suggestions. There are only 11 other people in the tribe - not that many options. And it wasn't like Jaison came up with, say, eliminating Dave Ball or Brett in some strange strategic coup. Erik was the guy being mean to him right then. It was a direct response to stimulus. That said, I think you're right that I'm probably underestimating Jaison's importance in the move bc I do feel so frustrated that he's not doing more! Oh and River <3. I've always enjoyed your posts, even when I wasn't allowed to respond. |
