How is this a NEW season!?

I don't understand why the professional lets them go through every last piece of crap in the house. You are about to loose your children, house, whatever
and you freak when the people who are there to help you empty THE TRASH CAN without you digging through it?
Take the hoarder out of the damn house during the clean up, there is no way they would notice 99% of the crap missing. The only time they flip out is when they actually see it thrown out without their "permission". Bull shit on that, these people are there to help them but the hoarder always winds up with an attitude and most of the garbage they hoard by the end of the show. The lady with the rotting food that was still "edible" was just disgusting. |

But this show isn't just about cleaning the shit up. It's about helping the hoarder learn to let go. If it's cleaned up the hoarder will only pile
it back up unless they get help for their emotional problems. They suffer from a mental disorder that's very hard to overcome.

^^^What FLuffy said.
It is probably the most frustrating mental disorder to watch, but it is still a disorder. Just like schizophrenia, which was horribly misunderstood for decades. |

I don't think the show is about helping the hoarder at all, they only spend two days with each hoarder. Nowhere near enough time to undo years worth of
lazy/mental illness. The show even states in the opening every week that this disorder is rarely cured. It's about good ratings, period.

Well, yeah, Kitten. It is about ratings. If it wasn't it wouldn't be on TV. My point is that it's not like one of those shows on HGTV about an
organizer coming in & cleaning the shit up. They do work with the people some even though, like you said, rarely is there a cure.

Some of the participants have posted on the official A&E boards. Apparently they are given a lot of money and aftercare. The gay hoarder said he broke up
with his creepy older boyfriend and is doing okay now.

I'd like to see a review show on these people. Let us see how piled up & nasty their homes are now. Maybe that gay boy says he's doing OK but is he
really?
I'm glad to hear they get aftercare though. |

He said he was still messy but that he was no worse than a normal 22 year old. He said he was no longer hoarding garbage and dog hair. The woman with the child
hoarder was posting over there too but I didn't see how she was doing.
