Well even commie pinkos have a moment of clarity once in awhile... except for the ones who post here.

That must include health insurance, dental, and eyecare and perhaps the new workout center they are building on site. But quite frankly I'd rather have the money. Except for dentist stuff I haven't had the need to go see a doctor in over 10 years. So that's in the vicinity of over $70,000 I could have spent on my own to buy cheaper catastrophic health insurance, which is all I really need, or a nice truck or two. I wouldn't mind having a $10,000 deductible health insurance plan. Will I have that choice after Obamacare kicks into low gear? |

After all, you're still under the delusion that Bill Clinton ended the Cold War, made the dot com and tech booms happen, created millions of jobs and balanced the budget all by himself despite the those wascally Wepublicans trying to thwart him at every turn. |

PoChop wrote:Thank you, Pochop. $7319 a year. If you lost your job, would you be able to afford that? Pretend for a minute that you have a chronic health problem like diabetes and that you aren't so stupid that you think you will always be as healthy as you apparently are now. Insurance is a gamble. I, too, would rather not pay my car insurance because I don't use it very often (4 times in 30 years). Just THINK of all the money I could have saved if only I could have foreseen the future and known that I wouldn't need it. But that's the point of health insurance. They're making money off YOU, but spending it on ME. |

lilnubber wrote: Well yeah, I could easily afford that amount for the rest of my life for health insurance, and probably even over a hundred years as long as I don't do something stupid like get married and start a family. Then the cash might only last for 40 to 50 years or so. I've been frugal and made many life decisions so as to get the most bang for my buck when it is necessary. Property taxes would actually be a bigger hit than health insurance. Can I get the gubbermint to pass a Property Tax Plan so I qwon't have to pay that amount every year? Are the costs for health insurance somehow going to magically disappear under Obamacare or get radically reduced? I doubt it. But like I said I'd rather buy a catastrophic high deductible plan that costs less and take the hit on general bills with my own savings. On gohealthinsurance.com I found an Aetna PPO plan with a $5k yearly deductable and a 5 million dollar plan max-out for an approximate quote of $183 per month based on my sex and age and lack of smoking. That's only $2200 year amd less than $50 per week. Will I have such an option after Obamacare screws things up? Will a plan like this be a "qualified" plan as determined by the goomers with regulatory power down the line? http://agents.norvax.com/quote/more%20detail/AETNA/IL_MCOA-PPOHD5000-Dental_Details_4-09.pdf |

Well, that's just wonderful for you.
Some of us don't make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. $7,000 is a lot of money for most people. How old are you? Just curious. |

I don't make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year either, but I'm damn frugal. I don't waste money on cable TV, or fancy smart cell phones.
Haven't taken any lavish expensive vacations. I save up for stuff before buying it so I've never paid interest payments on large expense items like
vehicles. I try to be responsible to my self and not be a burden on anyone. Under 50 if it matters. If you pick up one of those "How to be Millionaire
When You Retire" books that's basically the stuff I do and how I was raised. So as long the government doesn't devalue the dollar too much with
all this deficit spending I should be in good shape. And so would most people if they had some incentive to not blow their money on stupid stuff. Of course if
everyone behaved like the cheapskates in my family the nation's GNP would be a small fraction of what it is right now, and we wouldn't be importing so
much crap from China. But as long as I stay ahead of most other people financially that's what counts, right? My personal decisions and lifestyle trump the
average American's when it comes to financial matters. Am I now supposed to be penalized by the government for being responsible?
Let's pretend I buy that catastrophic health insurance plan, and the regulators decide after the 5 year grace period for old plans that it is not a qualified plan, what happens? Well assuming the insurance company still offers it I could continue to purchase it but I would have to pay a 2.5% tax penalty for having an unqualified plan, and my penalty tax to the government would be larger than the cost of the plan (assuming I have income at that point). Again, why would the government be so tyrranical to penalize me for being a responsible member of society and purchasing a health care plan that works for me and that I desire. Or for that matter if I don't buy any policy and am willing to pass on prematurely from this world because of a serious health problem but don't care for whatever reason (religious, financial, family burden-wise, etc) what business is it of the government's? Stay out of my health care decisions is my viewpoint. It's also my vote at the ballot box. |
