Yeah, the more I think about this the better I like it. The Lions are going to need boosters too. If they win a game or two Buddy just might come over.

I also think Buddy just really likes Coach. And he probably feels a little bad about everything he's (Coach) having to go through. So maybe he's
thinking, why not help him out a little?

I've met guys like Buddy. They're emotionally stunted, true "Glory Days" guys. Their lives are often a shambles (broken marriages as an
example). But they do have a certain loyalty to some other men, those who make them feel comfortably centered in their lives. Coach is almost certainly one
of those men to Buddy. E Love 9 is spot on in this regard. Frankly, I think Buddy admires just about everything that Coach has - I doubt there is a jealous
bone in his body about Coach's terrific family and Coach's own personal sense of right and wrong. And if Buddy is being pushed out of his place in the
Panthers Boosters it is no stretch at all for him to at least give something of a hand to Coach.
Burning the uniforms is not any sort of oddity. Even major colleges - and some pro teams! - have done it to get rid of the ghosts of games lost. (The Denver Broncos, btw, burned their original horrific brown and yellow uniforms when they switched to the Elway-classic blue and orange. Not only was that an event with some spiritual significance, the world was actually a demonstrably more attractive place after those uniforms were torched.) |

In the preview for next week it appeared that the need for new uniforms creates a big problem for Coach.
Buddy has always been an interesting character to me...easy to hate but also capable of making you feel a lot of empathy. He's a bit of a fuck up but he's got a pretty good heart. I'm not sure why he gave Coach the info on the mailbox but it does open up the possibility of Buddy switching his allegience to Coach's team. And that would make me happy. Did I misunderstand or was Tammy angry at Coach for lying to her because he already knew about the mailbox? I got a little bit confused there. And I like how they are quietly setting up the conflict between the Taylors by having them work at the two rival schools. It's interesting to me to watch the dynamic between them when they have conflict. |

My bet is that Coach T had a don't ask don't tell relationship with the mailbox. I like the idea of it being used to get Voodoo to play at Dillon.
That'd be why he could change schools so quickly.
Yeah the Luke development I didn't see coming. Nice kid. Look: those original Denver unis are regarded as being the ugliest colors of any NFL team at anytime and possibly the worst in the history of professional sports. I watched the SD/Denver game a few weeks ago with them wearing their throwback uniforms and the only thing I could concentrate on was how in the world somebody could've picked that color scheme. Vertically striped socks? [SNLSethMeyers] REALLY?! [/SNLSethMeyers] Meanwhile bohemian artschool Saracen is going to get really old really fast. Plus I'm kind of depressed seeing Riggins back in Dillon. After the finale's stirring send off for him, he pisses it away? Yeah the preview looks to be saying there'll be consequences for Coach having burned the jerseys. I wonder how he'll explain it. Plus, I presume they would've had a 2nd game scheduled for the Friday night between the forfeit and the special Saturday night practice -- did they have to forfeit a second game? |

There are quite a few schools in Texas who play Week 0, meaning the week before the official season starts, and take the next Week 1 off. I assume it was
something like that.
I'm having trouble deciding if the Denver unis or the old Vancouver Canuck v-necks are the worst unis in sports history. |

Regarding Buddy's allegience to Coach. Can't remember which season... maybe 2nd, when Buddy was kicked out of his house by his wife? Well, he went
& lived with the Taylor's for a while (slept on the couch). I think Buddy is just repaying Coach for his generosity during his difficult time.

My take on Buddy helping Coach with the mailbox is that he is doing it to help a friend and stick it to JD's dad. If the Panthers fail on McCoy's watch
Buddy can point to how successful they were when he ran the boosters and regain his power.
Good to see Wallace back on a show, he was on Bones a few weeks ago too. I'm surprised that McCoy didn't buy some houses in West Dillion and rent them cheaply to the players families. A basketball coach in my area did that, they opened a new school and within 2 years they won the state title. Then it came out that several players were recruited or lived outside of the lines and he was renting houses to a couple of others.
