I dunno about Canada, but Obama certainly does want to require people to buy health insurance! Like I said, I agree with most of your arguments, I just wasn't sure about the swine flu thing.

Also, I'd say there's a pretty good chance an infant would be exposed to hep B, considering all the drug addicting, dirty needle using whore moms there are out there. It is passed through bodily fluids. Mom sticks herself with a dirty needle, mom breast feeds kid, kid gets hep B, not to mention every other disgusting thing they might get. What's the harm in vaccinating them? It's for life, and can prevent horrible complications. It is much cheaper and easier to vaccinate and prevent a disease, than to treat a disease once it's contracted.</sup>

I guess that's where you and I disagree. I don't think that I need to prove there is a "harm" to vaccinating newborns; I think public health agencies have to prove there is a need for it. I don't personally know any moms who are whores or who use dirty needles (or clean ones, for that matter). I'm sure these people exist, and their children should get a HepB vaccination. But I don't believe that the government should treat us all as if we are crack whores or other members of the underclass. I'm not. And neither will my kids (when I have them). And if all goes according to plan, their mom will not be a crack whore.
