When Laura won immunity, John went to Erik about voting out Monica since they had planned on voting Laura. Word got around to Monica and Laura, which led to them turning the tables on Erik and voting him out. None of this would have happened without Russell's initial successful scramble to get rid of Laura. You're giving Russhole credit for the Erik blindside WHEN HE HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, DID NOT BELIEVE IT WOULD WORK AND PLAYED HIS IDOL TO PROTECT HIMSELF ? I never gave Russell credit for the Erik boot, stop imagining things. I'm giving him credit for a successful plan to boot Laura, which fell to pieces when she won immunity. The cascade of events that subsequently led to Erik's boot did not happen due to anything Russell did, but they would probably not have happened had Russell not successful scrambled to get rid of Laura prior to the IC. In other words, Russell's plan to get rid of Laura was a sine qua non to Erik's blindside.

Either the winner is Russell, or one of the characters whose airtime he's taken for the first 7 episodes - Jaison and Natalie. Jaison looked pathetic pre-merge, but was great in the merge episode, also explaining his attitude for the game which was precieved as N pre-merge - I'm gonna say he's the winner, but it can easily be Nat or Russ, too. Everyone else is out.

A bit of a long bow to draw, probably. I will say this, though, although it's not edgically-related. If Russell wins, he will have serious claims to having played the best game in Survivor history. That prospect fills me with nothing but chagrin but , objectively, there's no other way of looking at it.

I know the rules, but as a casual viewer who still keeps track of the edit, I can't see Mick as the winner (and couldn't last week either, it's not just because of the merge episode). Natalie, and to a lesser extent Jaison, violate some official edgic rules - but I sense some craft in their edits, they seem like characters whose stories the editors choose to highlight, at least at times, so that the viewer notices them. Mick is just there and horribly bland. Too boring to win, IMHO. If Russ wins, all bets are off. But if he doesn't, Jaison's my pick.

Well, until they do, I'm sticking to Edgic principles. I think it's a little hopeful to bank on Edgic changing its rules. Thought Erik was cocky and deserved to go, she thinks Brett & Kelly seem nice but she knows nothing about them, doesn't like Dave, Shambo, Russell. Mixed feelings on Monica. And I kid you not, I swear I am not making this up (I was just listing everyone off to get her quick opinions, I named Mick 3rd), and she said "Who?" That says enough for me right there. 8 episodes in and Edgic's #1 winner pick has yet to make a real impression on casual viewers. Sure, he doesn't violate any Edgic guidelines, so what? He also has no storyline, no FTC connections, no strategy insight, no personal development, and a lot of loopholes. I've said it for weeks and I'll keep saying it, have fun with your Marcus pick again.
