I figure if I give only gift cards this year, I can complete all my shopping in approx. 15 minutes.

Cop Out, but ok to give to acquaintences and people you don't know very well.

Gift cards are great for poor students. Not so much for others.

Lame. Pretty soon this type of "gift giving" will devolve into transferring funds between bank accounts. What's the point?

They are also great for re-gifting.
I've re-gifted many a Border's card. I keep the Best Buy ones. |

Good Present.
Money shows no thought, gift cards at least show you made an effort. I love 'em. |

If someone puts even a little bit of thought into it, the gift card would be to some place you actually like to shop or can be put to good use.
I just think of them as a fun little shopping spree to get whatever I want. :) |

Money and gift certificate are both fine. I hate it when people say it is a cop out and thought was not put into it, and yet they are the first one in line
after Christmas to return a gift. Hypocritical bitches.

They are slightly more sentimental than cash because at least you know where they shop.

The only backlash is people thinking you're a lazy, uncreative bastard, but other than that, they're the perfect gift. I just might do that too this
year.

I used to like gift cards, til my kids started getting them as gifts - then they'd have several amounts for several different stores, and usually not
enough to buy what they wanted or needed at any one particular store. Cash is easier. I'll give each of my nieces and nephews a box with cash in it, along
with some little gifts like chapsticks, candy, gloves, etc Most of them are in middle school to college, so cash works. For the little ones, I still like to
buy toys so they have something to unwrap on Christmas morning....

I found a liquor store that has gift cards. Who wouldn't love that?
And LOL on those who say cash is lame. Have you EVER turned down a gift of cash? I know I haven't. |

I'll buy them if it's a "little something" for someone. Costco usually has gift cards for restaurants and movies at 20% off their value (5
cards valued $20 each, and you end up paying $16 for each one).
