For Mick, we heard that he "just takes it on the chin" and that's what he's been doing all along. There's no game in Mick and that's what this episode just showed us.

Blake, the difference between Natalie's INV and Mick's weak merge episode is that we know why Natalie was quiet: She didn't want to ruffle any
feathers and she wanted to lean back to avoid the punches.
For Mick, we heard that he "just takes it on the chin" and that's what he's been doing all along. There's no game in Mick and that's what this episode just showed us. |

I've never really understood this obsession with winners and strategy. If a player gets a really strategic episode, everyone jumps on them. The winner
doesn't have to be overly strategic (e.g. Jenna, Bob). We just have to see that the winner is, somewhat, deserving.
Great way of putting it OTH: Mick hasn't been a UTR player, and with the Foa Foas being such a focus this episode, he's still in the centre of action (a major principle of Edgic for winners). Remember UTR means two things: a) ignored b) hidden. Mick was hidden. Natalie was ignored for 3 episodes in a row from the start. Mick's E1 was good. Mick's pre-merge was good. I don't think his merge was all that bad, considering the circumstances. I would have had a bigger problem if Mick got a 5 visibilty at a 12-person merge. |

Okay, so how is Mick "deserving" then? It's been 8 episodes, what have WE seen that makes him deserving to win, over strategic Russell and
friendly (and also strategic) Natalie? Mick's only hopes of winning are if he ends up in the F3 with Jaison and Shambo.

I'm going to go ahead and pick Brett as my winner's pick, as I think editing's going to go the route of
completely unexpected out-of-nowhere winner and who better than Brett? If he was a woman, yeah, an invisible edit would be expected, but no way they'd
edit a male like that!
Hey, it makes as much sense as all the other editing decisions this season. Best to compare the premiere and merge episodes and see which of these eleven boring fuckers sucks the least edit-wise. They're all looking crappy, which sucks ass. Better off if everyone looked like viable winners, honestly, because then we'd have some indepth, interesting characters this season instead of delusional mastermind Russell, self-pitying twat Shambo, and a bunch of nobodies no one cares about. So yeah, Brett's my pick to win this piece of shit season. |

Holy shit at the VF chart, but thanks Warrior. I'm surprised that Laura was only a 3. CPN3 it is.
Technically, isn't it too late for us to now change our "official" Edgic picks? We're supposed to have them BY the merge, it's in the guidelines. So everyone picked Mick, except for myself (Russell H.) and getting real (Natalie). Or am I missing someone? |

Natalie got a 2? Dang, she felt so much more...there. I guess it was more about quantity, and that horrible swing. <3
And congrats to Erik on getting more than half of Russ's Vis Factor! |

Natalie aka Polly Sue was N E V E R INV anyway you ignorant goons. She was clearly UTR1 and even if she was INV you could argue that she was connected to
Ashley's CP winners edit since they were sisters and kindred spirits. Polly inherited Ashley's strong edit when Ashley was voted off and continued
where it left off.
Mick has had a few shots of him sitting in a tree with his pubes sticking out and he gets airtime because he's a dreamy Montanan with decent confessionals for boring narration purposes. Who else was an edgic pick that was a bland Montanan hottie with dull narrator confessionals and reaction shots??? MICK = MALE AMANDA. POLLY THE PUREBRED MERMAID IS A MORE EDGICALLY VIABLE WINNER THAN MICK NOW. DEAL WITH IT. |

I think this episode was great for Jaison, and I also think that people may have been a bit quick to write him off. I've been a bit busy, so I haven't
had the chance to make this argument in the past few weeks, but it's something I've really been thinking about.
First off, the UTR2 in episode 1 is bullshit to me. Compare him to Liz, who got the one confessional about people thinking she's sneaky, or Erik getting I don't know how he was 2 in that episode. Jaison had his first confessional about him being a water polo player and then he helped to set up a theme that makes no sense otherwise. That theme: race. Why would the editors make such a big deal of Jaison being surprised Mick would pick a black guy for the swimming challenge, Liz feeling that she was picked for the puzzle because she's Asian, Mike commenting on "Afro-Americans" not swimming that well, if the culmination of that story was Ben getting voted out in episode 3, after not showing any signed of racism in episode 1? It leads me to believe that race comes up at some point, and Jaison fits that theme best. He was the first person shown to be going against Russell and succeeding. Every other person has gone. Marisa didn't trust him, she's gone. Betsy didn't trust him, she's gone. Ashley tried to boot Ben over Betsy, she's gone. Liz didn't trust him, she's gone. Yasmin pissed him off, she's gone. Jaison went against his wishes and took out Ben. Jaison is still here. Additionally, Jaison was the first person Russell really said he trusted and showed the idol to. The editors could've easily left that out and made Jaison seem purely like a quitter, but Russell trusted him early. Yes, he's been shown as a quitter, but at the same time, a lot of his quitting talk was backed up but the events we saw. We saw his hands pale white from how cold and wet it was. When he fucked up last episode, we got a good tribal council question from him explaining how he felt. Honestly, they had to explain him as the decoy boot for that episode, and that's how he went about it. And now, in the merge episode, he got a great edit. When Erik went to the three of them to talk, it was Jaison who took charge and turned the tide. Yes, Natalie worked the girls, but it was Jaison's plan. And then at tribal council, Jaison was the one who Erik said had potential, and Jaison was the one who got a lot of tribal council coverage, alongside Russell. If Jaison were to win, we were introduced to him in episode 1, he has had a storyline the entire pre-merge, and his quitting could show up at the final tribal council in a way where he says he overcame hardships to win it all. Hell, Jeff could even show clips of him wanting to quit at the reunion, in an ironic sense. It's entirely possible for Jaison to win still, and his numbers really haven't been THAT bad. |

Will do ratings in a bit, but preliminarily I will be moving Russell into my #1 spot with the weak episode Mick had. I've had Mick and Russell as the only
2 viable choices for over a month now and it will remain that way.
1. Russell 2. Mick |

My gut reactions after watching the merge episode: Jaison (gag), Russel (gag), and Mick. I think only Mick and Jaison has a case edgically at this point. But
it's a weird season. I'm pulling for Laura or Natalie though.
And even though Russel doesn't fit the criteria, he's still getting these scenes that are SOOO winnerish. Case in point is when Russel is explaining how he'll send out the troops (FoaFoa) to work on the individual members of Galu. It was so beautifully edited but made me sick at the same time. Ugh the editing this episode was amazing. Ratings that pop out to me: Laura- CP4N for bitchy threatening laura. She's a MAJOR ROADBLOCK for our winner: Russel/Shambo/John? She doesn't win, but she's someone that our winner needs to triumph over. She is shown as bein wary to Russel's BS, which should shine her in a positive light, but since editing is setting us up for a Foa Foa rebound, she is the bitch who hates Shambo. Russel- CP5?P? I get the sense that we're supposed to like him this episode. I can't stand the guy and I even hate how he thinks anyone who doesn't listen to him is retarded (Laura) but people who are smart are those hwo listen to him (John). Erik- OTT5N Was arrogant and not nice to Foa Foa. Too bad since I think he had the right idea. We were supposed to be happy even though I was traumatized and shocked. Jaison- CPP Maybe weak on the CP. idk, but Jaison just comes off as CPish at TC but everything during the episode is sorta bland and just P-ish soundbytes. That's all the insight from me. I wish I had time to participate this year. ETA Oo, I missssss you! <3 Anyway I think Jaison is so pathetic, but I got a P-tone from him. And same with Russel. I guess maybe mixed? And yeah, Shambo is a moron and is ridiculous. also, I completely agree: Erik was COMPLETELY right with his analysis of Foa Foa. Too bad Good Russel wasn't there to keep this wreck of a tribe united.

Natalie is officially my pick. I really don't care if she had a debatable INV, she has those girls wrapped around her fingers, and it was interesting to
see at the merge her walk away and talk with Dave. This girl is definitely playing the game. CP2? For the episode, I don't know it doesn't feel right.
But it still feels a lot better than Mick's UTR1 merge episode.
