memyselfandi wrote:Have you visited a military base since 9/11? You can't just fucking walk on base strapped with automatic weapons. Look where the incident took place. It was in the building where deploying soldiers get their gear and prepare to ship out. It would be easy for a couple of guys with their issued weapons to just flip the fuck out and start blasting. I'm willing to bet that my analysis will win out, and all your crybaby tittysucker liberal fuckwits will end up looking like fools yet again. |

Oh hush, I'm in alberta. this almost pains me to have to agree with you, but there is a reason gun registries have not been popular here. Not gun control, mind you, gun REGISTRY. You can own one, but you have to tell the government that you own it.OK, I've got one for that argument too. I realize that legitimate hunters and peaceful law-abiding Canadian gun owners really resent the gun registry and rightfully point out the insane balooning costs of it, wanting to have it quashed. It's hard to disagree with the close to $1B we've spent on it as being a ridiculous frivolous expense. However, if I were to say that I own a car and don't feel I have to register it (you know, that thing called "license plates" that everyone must have to legally operate a motor vehicle?) as I plan to only use it for peaceful purposes, how would that go over? It wouldn't, because a car is a potentially deadly piece of machinery that in untrained hands can cause major damage and death. Plus, the government wants their cut to help administer the highways, etc etc. So in my opinion, having people who own DEADLY WEAPONS require them to register said items is nothing strange, does not in any way resemble Big Brother, or have any real reason to be challenged. We all have to register our cars, so why shouldn't we have to register weapons that can and are sometimes stolen by criminals from peaceful owners and then used in the commission of a crime. The registration may not help every case, but it has been used for many positive cases such as domestic violence, where police are aware of weapons in the home when they are called to a residence. It can help things greatly in terms of public safety, whether or not it actually has any affect on keeping guns out of the hands of criminals. Man, I'm on a roll today... |

Will you shut the fuck up when it comes out that this has NOTHING TO DO with civilians owning weapons?

So wouldn't the rest of the soldiers have been armed, too?
There goes the argument (as Visa Declined so aptly pointed out) that if everybody carried guns, this kind of shit wouldn't happen. |

You're the one who thinks he can GUARANTEE no right-wing crazies are involved when there's just no confirmation what these shooters were about at all. |
