Wow thanks I didn't see this talked about or discussed at all in Fox's coverage of the game. You're quite the newsbreaker.

Kudos, Yankees.
I'm excited that Mick Kelleher finally gets his long-deserved WS ring. |

Congrats Yankees and their fans. Nicely played
<-------------------- I made a deal and will wear it (grudgingly) for a week Congrats to the Phillies for getting to the WS again. Bitter pill but I'm still proud of them. |

congrats to the Yankees fans who've consistently posted in this thread all season (they know who they are)
big thumbs down to Rollins for coming across as a sore loser w/ his postgame comments. I guess he was trying to do his best Patrick Ewing imitation.

tell me about it. i listened to the fan on my drive home at around 1 am and whoever the host was, hes like, 'yankees fans, youve waited a long time for
this day to finally come'. uhhh try being a cubs fan or royals fan etc lol. i think we need to set a limit on how long is long enough of a wait. is 20
years too much? should we go with 15?

a newspaper?
20 yrs sounds good sig. hell, Mets fans are going on 23 yrs and there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of tunnel. I just want one more title and will never ask for anything again. lol remember that Rollins prediction? "Of course we're going to win," Rollins said. "If we're nice, we'll let it go six. But I'm thinking five; we'll close it out at home."Marianowned

For Red Sox Nation, a two year drought seems like an eternity.

I don't know if its the new stadium or what but the fans weren't nearly as boisterous as they were in previous Yankee champ/ship runs.
I remember gm 6 Yanks/Braves '96 when the stadium was rocking. Braves looked defeated as soon as they stepped onto the field. it didn't matter if Gibson or Koufax was pitching for the Braves, there is no way the Yankees were losing. it was the exact opposite last night. for a ws clinching game, the crowd was pretty subdued (so was the celebration for that matter). I guess part of it has to do with these celebrities and corporate fucks showing up just because its an event. most of the real Yankee fans can't afford to go these games. |

God, I wonder what the 86-year drought felt like.Of all the dingy, moldy comebacks to ever get dug out of the mothballs, this is in most dire need of retirement. 2007 is already ancient history as far as bragging rights, so the idea that I should still be crying over stuff that mostly happened before I was born is laughable. |

my bro's been to 7-8 Yankee ws games and he told me last night's crowd was the quietest he's ever heard. he said he saw Yankee fans yawning in the
middle innings and, prior to the 9th inning, the only time the crowd got really juiced up is when Rivera came out of the bullpen.
Phillies had a real celebration, so did the Red Sox in '04. you didn't feel the same excitement from the Yankee players or fans. very corporate-like. |

I dunno, the players seemed pretty fucking pumped last night. Did you see ARod's face as he was running to the pile?
