Melrose Place's remaining denizens aren't happy to lose neighbors Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Colin Egglesfield.

Reacting to yesterday's announced dismissal of Simpson-Wentz and Egglesfield from the Melrose Place cast, costar Stephanie Jacobsen tells Usmagazine.com, "We're sad!"

"We're obviously going to miss them!" Jacobsen lamented at Thursday's Guess Vanity Fair T-Shirt Launch party in Beverly Hills.

Jacobsen, who plays Lauren Yung on the series, got the news via phone call from Egglesfield himself. "He is a soldier," she praised. "He said, 'That's the business.' He's amazing."

Jacobsen seemed less surprised by Simpson-Wentz's departure, noting, "I don't know if Ashlee's involvement was ever intended to exceed the murder mystery story line" that wraps up around the twelfth episode. "But obviously I'm not privy to the details."

Meanwhile, the actress has already welcomed the show's most high-profile new arrival: Heather Locklear, reprising her role from the 90s original as Amanda Woodward. "I chatted with her in makeup and I've been in two table reads with her," she notes. "She is warm and divine! We are so excited and flattered to have her!'

Following yesterday's news, Simpson-Wentz said in a statement, "Having the chance to play Violet on Melrose Place has been a thrill . . . Thanks to the CW and the entire cast and crew of Melrose Place for allowing me this opportunity!"

LOL! Being that the Simpson family was taken by surprise, I take that as them not being surprised she was fired because she sucked so bad as an actress. LOL! She was just trying to feed the party line and be nice about it. There was a blind item a while back about the cast of MP hoping that ASW was killed off/ dropped from the show. Guess they don't like her either.

Ashlee Simpson's diva behavior got her booted from the CW hit 'Melrose Place', a source close to one cast member tells Fox411.

"Ashlee was kicked off 'Melrose Place' because she was a total diva on set, late all the time, and deeply disliked by fellow cast members," the insider spills. "It created a lot of discord among the cast."

Another big problem, says the snitch?

"She could barely act."

(If you saw her episodes, you know this to be true.)

But not being able to act and being a diva hardly set Simpson apart from many of the venerable primetime soap's stars, both current and past. The insider tells Fox411 it was the producer's need to bring in one of those past stars that also hastened Simpson's swan song.

The source says producers desperately wanted Heather Locklear to reprise her role, but couldn't afford her salary demands without cutting someone.

"They basically trimmed the fat and made it possible for Heather to join the show," says the snitch. "Heather is a much bigger name than Ashlee."

Gotta feel sorry for Ashlee. She seemed so proud of that role. I also got the impression that she thought she was one of the gang in the cast. I wonder if it's true that nobody liked her and if so, if she knew that. It would suck to be fired and then find out that no of your coworkers liked you.

Is Ashlee a Diva?

Oh yes, she is completely down to earth, so amazing, low maintenance, no issues, such a sweetheart, and a complete joy to work with.

Does she have a bigger dressing room than everyone else?

(Laughing) NO! Ashlee has no Diva qualities in her whatsoever.

Are you learning from any veterans on set or are there just a bunch of kids getting their feet wet?

It is a combination of both. I learn from everyone on the cast. We have fun playing off of each other.

Have you met Heather Locklear?

Yes I have met her. We have done a scene together and she has been really amazing. She was nervous to come on the show, which I thought was funny, since Melrose Place is about her. We were excited to have her and she was really excited to be back. She seemed really funny and cool.

Are you worried about the low ratings?

No, I try not to pay attention to them because they are something I cannot control. All I can do is do the work I am given and we are trying to make the best show we can and that is what our focus is.

Any off screen hookups we should know about?

(Laughing) No, none.

Who were your acting influences as a kid?

Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses and if I can have a career anywhere close to hers I will consider my self a success.
