If Denise was the one who orchestrated those moves, they might have voted for her as the best player. I wouldn't say Denise didn't have a brain though. She was a strategist at all, but Todd was very good at getting people to believe him.

Denise was sort of screwed in terms of options, since she couldn't go to the end and expect to win with anybody who made the merge except for JR, Todd, Amanda, and Courtney. She was completely out of the loop on the JR vote, so now all of the sudden her only real shot at winning is to go to the end with 2/3 of Todd/Amanda/Courtney. Once that happened, she didn't really have any choice but to basically be the 4th wheel and hope to beat out Amanda in the final immunity, which she was fully capable of doing. The other problem is that keeping James around might not have helped PG and Erik. If they can't get rid of him and he gets to the end (with, let's say, PG and Erik), James easily wins that vote. James was not only the biggest physical threat, but he was also very well liked. Basically, once it got down to the F7, Amanda and Courtney could not win, and the most to least threatening in terms of the ability to win the jury vote were James, then PG, then Erik, then Denise, and Todd was last. That set Todd up very well to get to then end when combined with the fact that he had the majority alliance. Also, Todd was never portrayed as weak in challenges. In the Ep 2 immunity, he solved the puzzle when Zhan Hu started catching up, and the two losses were attributed to Courtney and Denise. Sure, he was sat out for the much more physical challenges, but any time there was a puzzle component he did very well, and the tribal challenges have shifted to having 1 physical part and 1 puzzle part, often with separate people doing each part, and so Todd's lack of size wouldn't hurt him too badly.

Some of the jurors, specifically Todd, Jaime, and PG might've seen that as good strategic gameplay. That's a huge stretch though. And for each contestant's results in the final TC, I think I'd put Todd ahead of Denise. I really don't think PG, Jaime, or Frosti would've voted for Denise over Todd. Anyway, yeah, Todd definitely knew what he was doing to win. He basically set himself up in the beginning, and his main job was not screwing it up, and not letting anyone or anything screw it up for him.
