I saw Precious. Mo'Nique has to win Best Supporting Actress in like every awards show possible, without question. That sentence would've seemed
illogical just like a year ago, but there it is. Who knows who the other nominees may be, but I can't imagine anyone even coming anywhere close to
surpassing Mo'Nique's performance this year.

Precious was amazing. The last scene with Mo'Nique's confession was one of the most intense scenes in a movie I've ever seen, period. A phenomenal,
unexpected and truly magical thing. She digs into a deep, ugly and dark place to deliver that. She HAS to win an Oscar. Repeat after me: the star of PHAT Girls
has to win an Oscar.

I'm hearing really good things about Penelope Cruz in "Nine". And we all know playing a slutty whore wins you an Oscar most of the time.Yeah no chance of her repeating. If Mo'Nique starts promoting the movie more, there is little chance for anyone else. She was damn good in what I thought was otherwise just an okay movie (which will probably win a ton of awards anyway). |

I don't think it will be due to racial issues. I just think the subject matter is so bleak that it may turn off some voters. I could see this being a case
where the actress is rewarded but not the movie.
