Here is about the only thing I care about now for the rest of this season: UNOFFICIAL Sprint Cup CLASSIC - the OLD way - Driver Points Standings [after
Talladega, race 33 of 36]: pos, car#, driver, points, behind 1) #48-Jimmie Johnson, 4752 2) #14-Tony Stewart, 4745, -7 3) #24-Jeff Gordon, 4673, -72 4) #5-Mark
Martin, 4315, -430 5) #11-Denny Hamlin, 4271, -474 6) #42-Juan Montoya, 4260, -485 7) #2-Kurt Busch, 4248, -497 8) #16-Greg Biffle, 4157, -588 9) #39-Ryan
Newman, 4118, -627 10) #9-Kasey Kahne, 4094, 651 So what SHOULD be a super exciting three-horse race has been shot to hell. Meanwhile, decent column over at
ESPN about NASCAR fucking things over yesterday: http://sports.espn.go.com...=newton_david&id=4613992 No
Neck is on absolute fire: "We should be able to race the race cars how we need to race them as drivers," Newman said. "If drivers can't
respect each other then we'll go … out in the back parking lot and talk about it. "NASCAR doesn't let us do that anymore, either." I love
that line. I love that so much.

NASCAR should know Carl Edwards wreck back in the spring was NOT caused by bump drafting, but by him trying to block. Maybe they should ban blocking??? Indy
cars do not allow blocking, I believe

memyselfand1 wrote:Cousin Carl's wreck was not caused by bump drafting. Absolutely. Cousin Carl's wreck was caused by NA$CAR itself. Both because of the new COT which caused the two car hookup phenomenon and especially the yellow line rule, which ironically has caused the same scary accidents that it was apparently intended to prevent. When those fucktards penalized Regan Smith for doing the SAFE thing, they set the future of the plate races. I don't know how you can not allow blocking, especially on superspeedways, that would essentially be doing the same as the no-bump rule, telling the drivers how to drive instead of just letting them race. They don't want to wreck anymore than NA$CAR (allegedly) doesn't want to see them wreck, but the dopes upstairs are making such a fuckheaded mistake trying to police it and prevent it. They just can't, and they're sacrificing their product to try and do so. The drivers will take care of things, for the most part. You're right, the IRL doesn't allow blocking. Now when was the last time you saw an exciting IRL race from start to finish? But that's a whole other can of worms... Reposting those classic standings, because it can never be pointed out enough how fucked up things are: UNOFFICIAL Sprint Cup CLASSIC - the OLD way - Driver Points Standings [after Talladega, race 33 of 36]: pos, car#, driver, points, behind 1) #48-Jimmie Johnson, 4752 2) #14-Tony Stewart, 4745, -7 3) #24-Jeff Gordon, 4673, -72 And for the hell of it, because it's such an awesome quote: "We should be able to race the race cars how we need to race them as drivers," Newman said. "If drivers can't respect each other then we'll go … out in the back parking lot and talk about it. "NASCAR doesn't let us do that anymore, either." |

I really hate not having edit.
A while ago I posted an old school restrictor plate race. 5 wide, no yellow line, people on the apron, and NOT WRECKING, it was awesome. I can't remember which race I posted now, I think it was this one. If it is, well here it is again cause we all need to remove the memory of yesterday as quickly as possible. If it's not, well, here's another example of how RP races should be from the 2000 Talladega fall race: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4amZ9VSA9kY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4amZ9VSA9kY&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> |

And if No Neck gets fined for what he says, 1. I'll start up a collection to pay it. I've got a Bermuda dime and three pennies in my desk drawer and a
big clump of cat fur in the cats' brush for the first contribution. 2. It will just show more how NA$CAR wants to turn its drivers into mindless robots.
A revolt sounds better to me all the time.
Now if GayJay has the most points at the end of the year under the old system, I still won't be happy about it, but at least it could be argued that he actually did win the Cup and wasn't just given it. That said, I wanna see him endure some good on-track pain. Finishing 30th or worse in each of the last three races is a good start. |

Which I still think is pretty awesome. Yeah, it can be argued, but I can still argue that Tony should have the Cup pretty convincingly because the Chase fucked his plan of attack. Although I agree, it'd be a little easier to stomach if the fucker managed to lead the old points after Homestead. But not by much. |

smartguy24 wrote:Unless I missed something Michael Waltrip said, you'd have to say "just about everybody except GayJay and Mikey..." -- because from what I saw on Twitter last night, he was basically telling people to stop whining about yesterday's race and how it went. Easy for him to do when he finished top 10 after (IIRC) he also was at the back a lot. From what I've heard from other people, Mikey's a real jerk when the camera's not on him. Not arguing that GayJay should have the Cup, because I still think he hasn't earned it. I only said that because it would be a slightly less bitter pill to swallow. That said, I do think the Chase hurt Tony. I'm sure it's a blow to a driver to lose a huge points lead thanks to the points being reset, and especially to suddenly be 10 points behind a driver who had been, what, 400+ or even 500+ points behind him. Also, Tony knows how to race one way: balls to the wall, foot hard on the accelerator, take no prisoners. Having to tiptoe and sacrifice wins for points is soooo not his style. |

Race weekend bump.
YAWN. And Texas isn't even that boring of a track. Lots of nasty wrecks there over the years. We can only hope that GayJay demolishes his car early tomorrow in one. Don't want him hurt, just want the car trashed so badly not even Cheatin' Chad can find a way to (illegally) put it together to get it back on track for even one lap. It wouldn't make him lose the points lead, but it would take a chunk out of it. Pretty good crowd there for the truck race last night, BTW. |

48 fastest in final practice today.
Could he blow a tire or something? The horseshoe is too far up his ass to hope for getting caught up in a wreck. |

Maybe he could get the pig flu and feel so bad that he can't even run one lap this week and next week. Have him recover fully, of course -- starting about
November 23rd. Or maybe even the 16th could be soon enough. Hey, it knocked Shrub out of both his rides early one weekend.

Race day bump. Does anyone care? You know how it'll end anyway.
Weather is gorgeous but I am too depressed about stuff (not NA$CAR) to want to go out. I think I'll clean house and do some power cooking for this week. |

Texas is and has always been a race-free, boring, cookie cutter, fuel mileage track. It may as well be in California. Oh, wait

Hey! I've read that lady's book!
How come we don't see people calling for Texas and Dover to be removed from the schedule like people were doing after Talladega? Cars flip there too. |
