Knowing Dexter's secret means you die pretty soon after learning it. So I hope Angel, Quinn, LaGuerta, Deb and Rita ALL learn Dexter's secret.
Deb found out in the books.

Her over the top performance of self pity shows this as does Dex saying he is the one who is broken. I think skanky Deb will fi d out Dex' secret - the only one who will understand him is his adopted fathers daughter, this is TV afterall, anything could happen. |

I've said from the beginning, when they decide to end the series I want the final season to be Dexter in jail. All of his friends & family dealing with
the reprecutions of his long double life. Plus imagine the kills he'd get in prison. Cons, crooked guards. Sort of a "Silence of the Lambs" meets
"Watchmen" sort of final season

I really wouldn't mind an ambiguous ending to the series. Anything else might feel too cliche, but maybe the writers can come up with something awesome.

I hope they don't go for the pat, happy ending with Dex riding off into the sunset scott-free.
I actually love maxx's idea of Dex going to prison, but carrying on with his "work" there. |

Anne Boleyn wrote: Please do answer the question, though. I don't know why I haven't bothered to read the books yet, since I love the show, but I haven't yet. I probably should buy them and get to reading though. McWolcott, you are the go to for all things Dexter. Do you recommend the books? MCH is so great, I just worry if reading the books will be disappointing or if they will make me not appreciate the show as much. |

I recommend the first two books, the third sucked balls. Haven't read the 4th.

For me someone needs to make the case for books, in general.

The fourth book is actually pretty good. I agree the third book was arse.
It's all becoming a little blurred as to whether Lindsay is borrowing stuff from the series, whether he is secretly feeding his plot points to the writers of the show OR there's only so many directions you can go with a serial killer with a family... |

I read too much non fiction to add fiction from TV to my 350 unread book queue library.
I only do that for Charlaine Harris. SPOIL DAMN IT! |

Sunday's latest "Dexter" hit a series-high for Showtime.
The show's fifth episode of the season was seen by 1.7 million viewers in its 9 p.m. premiere. "Dexter" has been on par or climbing each week since its premiere. This is the most-watched episode of a Showtime series since the network switched to its current measurement system in '04. With John Lithgow on board to play a serial killer, the show has been pretty strong this season and Jennifer Carpenter's self-loathing breakdown on Sunday was a heartbreaking perfect Emmy clip (though the show's fast-forward-worthy workplace romance subplot is dullsville -- this series always struggles to make Dex's co-workers interesting). |
