Poor Ariana but with almost no screentime I knew she was a early cut.

That was at least some good news.
He looked so cute with Pauline though. |

I'm glad they will let Brandon audition again.

Now THAT was a nice move by Nigel.
Although Noelle gets a free pass? Jessie didn't get one, why does she? |

well that's a nice parting gift for Brandon -- But Russell was not bottom 2

I wish they would just eliminate Noelle and let her come back next year. As of now, they'll probably have to cut her anyway.

He said something to the effect of, "I'm kinda angry that broken leg chick gets a free pass. Aren't you kinda angry? I mean c'mon, she's just sitting there, probably faking it until they get down to 6 girls." I WAS angry, b/c they had the nerve to put Russell there instead of Peter. |

OK, given the circumstances, I thought that the judges could have been fair ALL THE WAY AROUND and just give Noelle the axe and allow her to come back next
year to compete just as they are bending the rules for Brandon to return. That way, each and every dancer remaining would have had the chance to have a
reprieve week to get their shit together.
Now on to the dancing.... Phillip and Channing are a respectable pair. I agreed with Mary when she said that they have an air of sophistication about them. I bet if they had a waltz next week, they would just be all kinds of butter. As for tonight's jive, I was surprised that Phillip tired out as he did, considering that tap requires waaay more energy. Channing was decent, but I did agree that she needed to get down into the floor a bit more with her dancing (listen to me sounding like Mary Chompers). Jakob and Ashleigh. Little to no connection whatsoever, and the reason being is HER MENTIONING THE FACT THAT SHE HAS A FUCKING HUSBAND! We get it. You're married to your competitor. Now please just PERFORM already. It also threw off any chance that Jakob had at ever connecting with her because the mere mention of Ryan intimidated him and blocked them performing together. Now on to the actual dancing....I thought it was quite good, even if they did have trouble at connecting. Arianna and Peter. I didn't think it was a bad dance, it was just the choreography was HORRENDUS! Naps and Scabs should be FIRED. Serious what the fuckery. Although I have to say that Peter did look more like a hip-hopper and I wasn't quite expecting it. Arianna had some good moments, but her face was a bit blank. She got hosed for the night, though. That was NOT deserving of sending her home. |

I really hope Brandon gets a chance to reaudition, because that is such an awful way to go out. You know I would bet that even if he gets a chance to
reaudition....they will let him get to the green mile and cut him for a 3rd season in a row.
The funny thing is that the bottom 4 was so not reflective based on how the judges critiqued the performances. The judges pretty much ripped the Jive group and the hip hop group. I do find it incredibly interesting that Adam and Mary (although some critiques of Brandon) had some very high praise for the waltz routine....especially towards Pauline. Based on their critiques their bottom 4 would have been. Peter Phillip Arianna Channing. Although personally my bottom 4 would have been Channing, Ashleigh, Kevin, and Peter. The first three routines I felt were the worst routines. It was very apparent, because there was nearly no momentum in the beginning of the show. |

"It also threw off any chance that Jakob had at ever connecting with her because the mere mention of Ryan intimidated him"
I think the presence of a vagina intimidated him. Jakob looked uncomfortable from the get-go with a full-bodied, sensually dancing woman. |

BTW, what disease did Ashleigh have that kept her from dancing for 4 and a half years?

Was it my DVR/cable that showed this in 4:3 aspect ratio and really crappy standard definition? Last couple seasons of SYTYCD were at the very least widescreen
and really good standard definition, if not high def.

Victor and Bianca. FINALLY! The first couple of the night to have a connection! I thought that Bianca was actually pretty good considering because she actually
took in the fact that whatever you lack in technique, you BETTER make up for in performance. Victor stepped it up, too, especially after seeing him be a little
sloppy last night. Travis Wall, bravo on a pretty good routine concept. Certainly better than anything kicked out by Tyce and NappyScabs in the last year.
Karen and Kevin. Once again, Karen does it for me. I thought that she just was more on fire tonight in comparison to Ashleigh, even if she does remind me of RW Cancun's Ayiiia. Kevin was totally stiff and apparently took waaaay too many notes from the Ryan DiLello Audience Mugging School of Ballroom Dancing, because that shit was so FUCKING irritating! In all honesty, KEVIN should have been Russell tonight in the bottom 4 tonight and he probably should have been cut. Russell and Melanie LaPatin. I thought he did a respectable job tonight in his Foxtrot. Honestly, I thought he outperformed Melanie. You know, it's moments like this where I wish they would have dug up Iveta to dance with him. I bet you he would have been a star up there with her as a help to him. He did not deserve the bottom. Ellenore and Ryan. I didn't even notice Ryan because ELLENORE just STOLE MY HEART! I was literally doing a Sonya Tayeh on the floor in front of my television to that girl's movement. I LOVE YOU, ELLENORE! Sick, sick, SIIIIIIIICK movement! I hated the fact that the judges did not give her ANY props whatsoever. She made that routine come ALIVE. And for someone who supposedly works out and plans life around it, I would have expected Ryan to be a little less winded and sweaty. Oh and camerapeople? BACK THE HELL UP OFF HIS MUG! I recoiled away from the TV in disgust at looking at his Gollum face. Ugh. Brandon and Pauline. I thought they did respectable given the circumstances. There were instances in that routine where Pauline broke her own lines and seemed like she was laughing in the middle. Liked the performance/emotional quality they both brought notwithstanding. Now that Brandon has been given somewhat of a reprieve, he needs to go as quickly as possible to the nearest BALLROOM class sessions and work, work, WORK for next year. Kathryn and Legacy. They had an OK routine. Legacy definitely was a bit sharper than Kathryn. She has got to work on not pasting on that cheerleadery smile all the damn time. Judges?!? Please do not force feed us them as a power couple. I have my doubts about both of them. Kathryn moreso than Legacy, because she has the potential of coming off rather mildly sloppy. And finally.....Nathan and Mollee. Nathan? You know I am one of your big fans and all, but DUDE.....PLEASE avoid getting sucked into the super syrupy Mollee web of annoying bubbliness. It really affects your performance. And it definitely did take away from his dancing tonight. He was so fixated on showcasing a personality that his actual dancing fell a bit by the wayside, and that really hurts me to say as a Nathan supporter. Mollee on the other hand BROUGHT IT in her performance, but her lifts SCARE THE HELL OUT OF ME! That one lift where she went upside down over Nathan's shoulder and down his back WITHOUT ANY SUPPORT at all....I thought that she was gonna bust her head wide open on that stage! These two are awfully DANGEROUS with lift tricks. That being said, they totally worked tonight in that disco. I was impressed by the tricks, not so much by the actual dancing. Nathan....you better BRING IT next week. Lay off the bubbliness and return back to the "I'll shine when it calls for it, but until then I prefer being one of the crowd" Nathan original personality that you have. Baby steps, Nate. Baby steps. |
