It's prolly the same reason that womean outlive men. Men are generally responsible for earning the lion's share of income in any family and suffer far more tension and stress over finances that womean do. That is the main reason why men die so much younger than women do. Perhaps that is one of the reasons that women are so much meaner and uglier than men in relationships. But it is surely the main reason why men only live to about 65 these days while women live to about 80. Don't believe this is true? Well, back in the good old days, there was no big difference in longevity. When women started bitching and moaning at men, we could just take a club and whack them over the head. But we can't do that anymore. The difference in longevity started to become so very pronounced around the same time companies began to be forced to pay women equal wages as men under the lie that that they did equal work. Your body can feed off that- men don't have as much so thier bodies fail them. If he had been a ruthless scumbag and had no regard for anything else but WINNING and NEEDED the money then he wouldn't have forfeited the F2. His friendship with Tom was way way more important. Tom had a family to take care of. Sure Ian could have helped out his parents, started an early retirement, and carved a nice financial niche for himself, but he idolized Tom.

There've been plenty of guy quitters after Osten. But I don't know that I'd consider Ian a quitter as much as I would someone who was naive and gave in to good game-level manipulation.
