Texas A & M Sucks, you will get no arguments there. Congrats on beating the 5th best team in the Southern division.

A & M does suck, and they will suck for the next 2 or 3 years because they can't get rid of Sherman and they are still paying Francione. The only hope
for the fans is that they suck because of the crappy players left by Fran, I think right now over half of the starting lineup are freshman and there have been
a few bright spots which gives me a tiny bit of hope.

Jaguar, if you have any connection to the B(c)$ folks, could you
please clue them in as to how pissed-off the vast majority of college football
fans are that there isn't a playoff at the I-AA level, as they're obviously blind to that being the case?...
Kramer, coachfran.com was a damned cancer - horrid, horrid hire for A&M. It'll forever stagger me that they pushed R.C. out the door to begin with. Seahawketti wrote:Bullshit! Saturday, October 24 12:00 PM ET Georgia Tech at Virginia 12:00 PM ET South Florida at Pittsburgh (I'm worried about this one, as USF always seems to pull off at least one big, unexpected win each year. But every time I go against Pittsburgh, I phail, so I am sticking with them) 12:00 PM ET Connecticut at West Virginia 12:21 PM ET Arkansas at Mississippi 1:00 PM ET Ball State at Eastern Michigan (lol at this game being included. Who will get their first win? I went with Ball State because looking at the schedule, they've gotten completely blown out less times than EMU) 3:30 PM ET Tennessee at Alabama 3:30 PM ET Clemson at Miami (FL) (Tempted to go with Clemson, but it's a bit of a risky pick) 3:30 PM ET Penn State at Michigan 3:30 PM ET Oklahoma at Kansas 3:30 PM ET Boston College at Notre Dame (Dunno why, but I like ND here) 3:30 PM ET Wake Forest at Navy 4:00 PM ET Air Force at Utah 4:05 PM ET Idaho at Nevada (Hell if I know. Went with Idaho simply because of their record. Most of their wins are squeakers though) 7:00 PM ET Iowa at Michigan State 7:00 PM ET Temple at Toledo 7:30 PM ET TCU at Brigham Young 8:00 PM ET Texas at Missouri 8:00 PM ET Oregon State at USC 10:15 PM ET Arizona State at Stanford (I never get Stanford games right. When I pick them to win, they lose. When I take them to lose, they win. Please don't let me down AGAIN!) |

Until we blew them out last year in DickRod's inaugural season, the damn Wolverines beat us nine in a row. I hope the monkey truly is off our backs and we beat them again this year! |

"I thought you already spilled the beans earlier in this thread that you have a vote in the Top 25 poll. So of course that means you're a media person. " No, I personally do not have a direct vote but my work can influence the poll results though I would say only slightly if any. ATM, I already have submitted a number of scenarios for BCS playoffs since the BCS began, but it has only helped to develop my own college ranking system. But not only do we have to break the dependency on bowl games as it sits now, but we need to develop a fair method to determine who earns the right to be in the playoffs. Case in point the non-bcs conferences that actually may have a team/school that can compete with "the big boys." Some years ago, some people thought that if Notre Dame joined a conference (the Big 10 or the Big East), that it would help spark a playoff system. What it actually would have done, not to mention taken millions of dollars away from Notre Dame, would have been to diminish the bowl games a bit by forcing the Irish to play in the Rose Bowl (typically against USC) and frankly, USC wanted no part of that idea of playing the same team twice a year for most of the years (as both teams potentially could win their respective conferences). The BCS on the other hand forces teams into matchups even if not directly. After all there are "seeds" in the BCS for which there are guarantees. But that forces Notre Dame to win the conference in order to be guaranteed a BCS game slot. If they were to only go say, 9-3 or 10-2 then they likely would not be considered for a premium bowl game if they were in a conference whereas as an independent, they have more control to cover acceptance by many bowls and to have yearly shots at playing in games that teams with 2nd and 3rd place conference finishes do not. And, it is harder to analyze an independent when there is less consistency in who they play year to year. So, Notre Dame would rather collect all their share of a bowl game's revenue allotment than have to divide it among the rest of the conference's members as happens in every conference. The answer lies somewhere inbetween the system we have now and the lower college divisions in football but you have to convince the networks and the bowl sponsors of how it can succeed. Television will always want to be there if the money is right. |

Granted I'm generally a Notre Dame hater so take this with a grain of salt...
I totally agree with everything you're saying regarding Notre Dame not wanting to join a conference because they already have such a ridiculously huge BCS jackpot when they make it there and they already have their own television contract and wouldn't have much interest in sharing in ESPN or Big Ten Network deals like other schools... I really don't get the logic that the bowl games would be diminished by Notre Dame, which is 1-9 in its last 10 bowl games, joining a conference. What do you consider premium non-BCS bowl games anyway? IMO there's no more premium a bowl game outside the BCS championship than the Rose Bowl, first off, so Notre Dame having more of a chance in playing one again wouldn't be a bad thing for them, but if they were in the Big Ten and were non-BCS but had a good year they'd still be available for one of the other Jan. 1 bowls the Big Ten has a contract for (and Capitol One Bowl has the biggest non-BCS payout). |
