Yeah, that's a good one. Redirect her to playing with her toys? Gimme a break with breaking her of that . I don't blame her for pulling that g-d intubation tube out. I'm with raa66 on this issue.

raa66 It might help if Rachel couldn't get her hand up to her tube as illustrated in the picture. The nurses need to step up on this. I've worked with the bedding they have, with the velcro strap going over them and it's crap. They need to use regular blankets and truss them up like turkeys. They sleep better being tightly held in and it helps prevent accidental extubations. And it's not her attitude or personality, she's in pain and she's trying to remove the source. That's not the same thing as wanting a pony for her tenth birthday.

I wonder if they need to say unwrapped to keep the bili lights working so they don't become jaundiced and therefore can't be swaddled. And are they not still on morphine?

Too bad Amanda doesn't see it's more likely Rachel is tired of all the NICU crap and would rather join her womb mates having a grand old time frolicking around in heaven with no need for surgeries, IVs, vents, and all the other neato fun she's been having since birth.

I do find it really strange and disturbing that none of the other babies are ever mentioned again. It is really disturbing that the chart with the babies at 2 months is still up. She just took the third baby down and kept going.

It is almost like instead of losing children, she has lost a pair of shoes from her closet. She has some regrets for a few days, but then just throws them away and forgets about them.

Sorry if that sounds cold and simplistic, but that is exactly how her blog comes across.

I"m with The Smoking Nun the Stansel parents are narcissists. They at least mentioned the other deceased babies getting funerals. It's almost like poor Ashlyn is still in the cooler at the morgue waiting to see if one of her sisters will be joining her in the coffin.

Alrighty then, good to know that the elixir of life is breast milk. It will cure brain bleeds, NEC, ROP, the gout and I bet even swine flu. I bet their family didn't ever need no stinking medical doctors when they had wise old grand-pappy. If we'd been born in 1882 we too could be wise sages.
