However, Parvati & Bob, while having UTR streaks in their pre-merge edits, both had a strong, character defining first episode (so did J.T., but his was very toned down in order to prepare for the visibility he was going to go through after the first few episodes), and a strong merge episode. This is why that Sierra, even though she was the #1 pick for 3 out of the first 4 weeks, dropped out of it once her UTR streak continued INTO the merge and did not re-develop like Parvati's and Bob's.
Even with this, J.T. was never UTR once last season, so his edit continued on an upward pace from the premiere up until the finale. That's pretty much how the lead contenders are as well for this season -- Mick, Shambo & Russell H. have not received any UTR's.
I think Shambo is worth a second look for a lot of us. She's my #2 now behind Mick and in front of Russell (and everyone else, even Natalie, is out.) Think about how manipulated her edit is. They could have easily made us hate her. Instead of being a lovable klutz who means well but always fails and is on the outs of her tribe, they make her into a sympathetic character with the most personal development and quite a bit of game strategy as well. She had a great premiere episode (the best on her tribe, and a CPP4 is pretty much the perfect rating for anyone), defining her as a person and as a player, already with doubt but promise as well. I'm not saying she's the winner, she could easily be the Rupert/Sugar hybrid that we've been watching, but if she won, would HER edit be any different? If she won, her storyline would be exactly the same -- ex-Marine outsider tries hard to provide for her tribe and even though she's socially outcast, accidentally loses fishing gear and a chicken, she manages to win over the jury votes by playing an honest, upfront game and trying her best and being friendly to everyone. But I'm starting to tie logic into all of this more now (finally), and with a heavily Galu-centric jury as it looks to play out as, how could she get the votes? It'd be perfect for doubt though, wouldn't it. Just some shit to think about, cos she's my #2.
Sceptic, in response to "endgame players" and Natalie and how it doesn't belong here, it DOES. Edgic is changing and evolving, and we've been wrong the past 2 seasons so I think some of the oldschool veterans need to adapt to the new editing changes. A lot of what goes on here is NOT adaptation, it's following the same formula every season and now that we've been wrong twice in a row, we need to change some things. Natalie & Russell both clearly have stated why they could beat each other in a jury vote. With Russell's N edit and Natalie's P edit with their different strategies working in their respective ways, it's easy to see that N Russell could easily get his ass handed to him by his "dumb blonde" Natalie using that strategy against him and beating him in the jury. If it's a F2, this IS important. We know Natalie & Russell are making end-game, jury-related comments in Episode 4. Well before the merge. They would not be showing this if it was for nothing. I guarantee you, if Natalie or Russell are in the F2/F3, they're in it together and Natalie beats out Russell, whether it's for 2nd place or 1st place (I know, but I'm just saying). One of the end-game players is always the winner, correct? If not, they wouldn't be in the end game. That's why we need to look into these connections. If we hear snippets about why Russell thinks he can beat Natalie but Natalie knows this and will use it to actually beat Russell instead, we need to pay attention to this because it could definitely come up in the finals.
Anyway, final ratings.
