Poor guy did a face-plant on the table. Since the puzzle table people have on blindfolds, there must have been a caller to guide them in the challenge.

The way this challenge was set up, the blindfolded have to push the ball to the table then, still blindfolded, try to do the puzzle. All the time led by the
person in the ball. Russ and John (?) both look disoriented. I'm thinking it is not easy to roll the ball and as dizzy as the person inside must get,
the people outside must also suffer from disorientation/dizziness. Add dehydration to that and I'm surprised that more people didn't go down.
In Jeff's EW blog today he said that it was the first time he thought they might actually lose a survivor permanently. |

The challenges have just been getting consistently more violent with each passing season.
Remember waaaaaaaaaaaaay back during Thailand when they did that "Pilfering Pirates" challenge and Robb choked Clay? Probst did an interview after that episode where he specifically said it was a huge mistake on the part of production to put the contestants in a challenge where they would have to come into physical contact with each other. I'm guessing that's not much of a concern for them these days. |

This one isn't really violent, not like the drown-yauman-on-sharp-coral one for instance.
I guess there's not any sort of medical check before they start a challenge? Like blood pressure, temp, heartrate? I don't have any idea if that would have tipped them off that Mike and Russell were marginal, but it seems like it could be done quick enough. I'm still not getting the dehydration part. Seems like if they were basically dripping in 75F for days, they would have been just burning through calories with their bodies trying to stay warm. I would have guess some kind of lack of energy/calories/food/low body temp sort of problem |

It's probably an underlying issue like an enteric bacteria or something leading to an electrolyte imbalance.

I did scan through that promo looking for the II but didn't spot it. I couldn't find reward items either. Maybe somebody else has better eyes.

To elaborate on what croc said, it's not actually that they can't sit out two challenges in a row, even though that's what they say on the show (probably because they think it would be less confusing). It's that they can't sit out two challenges in one cycle, meaning RC-IC-TC. After TC, the next cycle starts, so someone could sit out an IC and the following RC, but not an RC and the following IC. |
