Ashley - she was decoy boot twice, it bothers me they`d elevate Natalie-Russell deal over he. (like Alxis being eclipsed by already eliminated Catalie in S16).
People comparing Monica to Erinn - you know that means she has one of 3 best remaining edits, and will last deep into the endgame, lol.

I REALLY think that Survivor has gone off the deep end in terms of how they portray women as being stupid, weak, bitches, or completely oblivious to the game. There have been exeptions-VERY few exceptions, since All Stars. Stephanie, Cirie, Taj, and, well I guess that's it. Delurking just to say, yes. This. Big red X, or whatever. Survivor these days has grown bad enough that a friend of mine uses it as an illustration in the Women's Studies class she teaches. It's reached absolutely parodic levels of misogynist fail. I was going to participate in Edgic this round, but by episode 3 I was finding the season so utterly dreadful that I couldn't muster up the energy (far less the rewatching!) required for Edgic, and decided to try to find entertainment in the season by reading spoilers instead. So back to lurking now, I guess. Maybe next season I'll try it again. But thanks to all of you Edgic folks for a thread that always adds at least some interest to even the dullest and most dreadful seasons for me (although I rather wish that there were more talk about the editing itself and a whole lot less personality clash bickering). Without you guys, I would have stopped watching at Fiji. Bless. |

The casting folks were lucky enough to have waited a LONG time to cut off women from the show (but probably that they are lazy). Otherwise it would never have made it past 3 seasons, possibly even suffering the same fate as Pirate Master. |

Jedi, you're right. Pirate Master was great but the editing was a joke. Big characters -- Jay, Azmyth, Louie, Joe Don, Ben. And all these guys were
portrayed as at least some combo of powerful, strong, hard-working and strategic. The only females NOT to be portrayed as either bitchy, weak, a follower or
useless were Nessa and Cheryl. Nessa was a big character but still was INV/UTR at the beginning before her CPP arc. Cheryl only lasted 4 episodes and then
committed suicide after the show. Females are now INV or UTR by default unless they have a storyline that is completely necessary for inclusion into the
series. We saw how Ashley's edit really is now that she wasn't a decoy boot.
And can we stop talking about spoilers in here? Seriously, if we just completely avoid talking about them, people will have no reason to claim that we only made the right choices by us knowing spoilers. The editing is so obvious now anyway that just watching the show itself from week to week is a spoiler. The only "Edgic guidelines winner" (aka Blake's favorites haha) is Mick. The only 4 without an INV are Shambo (distraction, too much wandering & uneven tone this early), Russell H. (possible, but his visibility and negativity levels would be way unpredecented and therefore he would not fit the Edgic guidelines), Monica (I think we know that she doesn't win, even without an INV, because a UTR1-UTR1-UTR1-MORN2 is not a winner's edit for the first 4 episodes), and Jaison (who has a decent edit, but it looks like he's going to be quitting and we all know that the editors would never show such footage of a strong young guy saying those things if he were to actually win). It's also pretty easy to see that Russell/Natalie are either Sugar/Susie or Coach/Debbie. But F3's always have one finalist that is MUCH less visible than the others, and it's always a woman. Natalie would fit this perfectly, and what little airtime she's getting is all being headed in that direction. Russell, I don't have to explain. It's pretty obvious that he'll be facing the jury. We're just looking for the 3rd member with them -- and at this point, it looks like Mick. The editing is so heavy-handed these days that we don't need spoilers to figure it out. |

I really wish the spoiler talk would be left completely out of this thread. It happens every season and it's unfair to the people who go out of their way
to avoid spoilers. Not only does it cause tension, but it detracts from the overall goal because it creates an atmosphere of paranoia because you start to
question certain people's posts and wonder if they are influenced by spoilers. It doesn't look to be the case to me. Mick still seems like he's
going to overwhelmingly be the #1 Edgic pick, as he's been for 2 weeks already so nothing changed. As other posters have said, only 5 people don't have
INVs and those people will likely remain the top contenders.
If people have read spoilers, can they please at least do what chapera rocks did and post any winner speculation in tags if they're going to continue to make picks? |

I don't know, I still think Shambo faces the jury and Russell is a juror who either votes for or against
Natalie (it seems a little too obvious in the editting that they'll be there together, but if they are then we know who does better
between the two). Shambo facing the jury would make sense, since she'd get most of the jury hate since Galu seems to hate her. With so
many "end gamers" being Foa Foa, Galu is going to self-destruct at some point. The editting suggesting that their tribe really sucks
(they all hate each other) probably explains why they all fall--the "tight" tribes like Aitu, Jalapao, Fei
Long all stuck together (were shown as a family) and won out in the end over the dysfunctional tribe. Like Erinn (if she were in the
Final), or Sugar, she could get raked over by the jury of her ex-tribe mates who she likely flips on. That may explain her random tone
fluctuations, plus she said to John and Erik about getting their votes in the end (what if she doesn't?). That would
probably explain how Mick wins--he's against people that the jury doesn't want to vote for, so as a result, he gets their vote (kind
of like Earl--no one liked Dreamz or Cass)
