Anyone else see today's episode? Barbara was convinced, CONVINCED, that black women straighten their hair and use weaves to look 'like white
people.' She brought it up about 8 times in Hot Topics and then another 8 times with Chris Rock.
You could tell Whoopi was getting frustrated and was dying to tell her to shut the fuck up. |

I do it because there is no way I could go out in public if I didn't relax my hair. Some people have the patience to comb through a fro every morning, I do

Whoopi and Sherri explained that it's all about maintenance. You have to use a lot of product for it to be even manageable and weaves, wigs, etc are just
easier. It's not about trying to look white. Chris Rock has a documentary about it coming up and it looks really interesting. He went more in-depth on the
subject on Oprah, but the general consensus is no, not about trying to look white.
If anything, it would be trying to emulate Indian hair, since that's where the majority of hair used in wigs and weaves come from. |

And that's why many black women do so also. The suggestion that black women relax their hair to look white is about as stupid as the suggestion that white people tan so they can look black. Such nonsense is to be expected coming from Babsie Walters AND Carboys Desire. |

I saw it. babs kept insisting that black women straightened their hair to look white. Whoopi tried patiently to explain to the old bat that is was mainly about
time management and convenience. Whoopi finally started to lose her patience with her a little, especially when babs monopolized the entire interview with
chris rock asking him stupid ass questions on a subject she knows jack shit about.
Whoopi even tried to tell her, if it were about black women wanting to look white, then black women would be going to plastic surgeons to get their noses narrowed and their lips thinned and their butts deflated, which they don't. babwah gets more obnoxious and senile everyday. I can't stand her, she's absolutely irksome. This show has become totally unwatchable at this point.

I can understand her initial questions, but she kept going back to it. I also think Barbara's annoyance at anyone disagreeing with her or challenging her point of view contributed to it as well as ignorance. I don't think Joy was thrilled with the Whoopi is my fave crap either. Did you see her face when Barbara 'playfully' told her to shut up? |
