Moving along. Switching babies? Wow. I kind of like it, though the execution of it was not so well done. Apparently there are NO security measures of any kind in any building in Genoa City.

I believe that was the scene that irritated me the most. Like, 'forget what happened to Super Girl! and just bow to your f-in-law.' I think J.T. and
Red need to compare notes on a show sometime soon. Also, the whole 'we'll build a hospital wing in my father's name if you just get him a heart
NOW!'. Throw in her treatment of Sabrina and Colleen. Just give me a boulder to stick between the Gap!!
Okay, I feel so much better now. |

well w.j. , I actually feel bad that I'm not putting my rainbow spin on things of late.
I can't wait for Phyllis to rev. up her acting chops and give the Newmans a tough time (I hope she does) not Sharon, but Gappy/Victor etc.. and that she never lets it go that Victor almost got her SPECIAL GIRL killed. |

oh, i agree! i can't wait for the newmans to feel the wrath of both jack and phyllis. i absolutely hold victor responsible for all of the deaths and near
deaths, all because he wanted to bother jack. karma's been a long time coming for victor, but it looks like it might finally have arrived.
oh, and i meant to say that especially with all the personal soap stuff going on, y'all continue to give great recaps and discussion. i don't need the flowery stuff anyway, even if the recaps are sometimes better than the show itself. ;-) |

Moping his way over to the tackhouse, Noah's not so much upset that he wasn't told that Nick fathered Sharon's baby 'sooner' - but, rather,
that he's lost another sister. Wordlessly, Nick offers an understanding hug.
Cradling 'Faith', Jack reports that Billy's making funeral arrangements with the Connelly's. Poor Traci - Ashley can't believe how lucky she is to have Faith. You'll have your won miracle soon, Ash consoles - then is shocked to hear (A) Jack's not the father, and (B) Sharon's poor kid was stillborn. At Memorial for a doctor's appointment, Sharon spots, then summons Adam over. Expressing condolences, Adam's told that Sharon's 'hangin' in'. It's weird - she hasn't heard from the funeral home - about the ashes. 'Sorry', Sharon @++%* up (as Adam extends a comforting hand) - she's having a hard time keeping her emotions under control. The funeral director talks to the Connelly's and Billy (with Mac) about various coffin choices - will the casket be open or closed? Do they have a florist? Billy asks for a minute - then campaigns for something other than a 'morbid tear-fest'. Sounds 'wonderful' to Traci - can Billy handle it? The doctor informs Nikki and Victor that he can be released in a week or two - but it looks like the new heart's doing just fine (then credits the devoted 'wife' who hasn't left his side). After the doctor leaves, Nikki sits to remark she's often being mistaken for his wife lately. We all have our crosses to bear, Victor quips - and has something to say (that she needs to hear). Traci encourages the reluctant Billy to plan Colleen's funeral - and as the others add their support, claims there's no one she'd
trust with this more than him.
Sharon regroups - and appreciates Adam's concern. No, we don't really know one another (but Adam doesn't have too many friends to talk to). Knowing the history between Adam and Victor, Sharon believes Adam should feel grateful to have a second chance with his father. And now she has to go see Victor - and find the mortuary. Adam calls Sharon back - he meant what he said - he's very sorry her baby's gone. Now alone, Adam DOES look sorry (OR he now realizes he has to come up with some ashes). Victor explains that Nikki set this all in motion - sending Ashley to find him. And now, here they are - and there's a new life in the world because of her selflessness. Without Nikki, there'd be no Faith. Ashley wishes she'd been there for Jack - she thought she was going insane, but ever since Faith was put in her arms, she's feeling great (and will soon be ready to return to work - at least part time). That's the best news Jack's had all year. Ashley plans to take care of her girls, no matter what life throws at them. Victor? As Faith's father, he'll always be in Ashley's life. But never mind that - go see Traci. Watching Jack leave, Adam now visits Ashley (and hears that Jack feels terrible about Nick and Sharon losing another child). By the way, where's the nearest funeral home? He'd like to have his driver take Nick and Sharon there. Why the sudden urge to help them? Adam also feels he's been given a second chance - and wants everything to be different from now on. Thanks for stopping by, Ashley looks somewhat suspicious. In the hallway, Adam makes a call - pick me up out front - quickly. Back at the tack house, Noah talks some more about Nick being the father - and doesn't understand why Mom didn't tell him. Noah knows he's behaved like a spoiled brat - but now wants to help his parents. Nick appreciates the gesture - but neither him or Mom want Noah to stop living his life. Adam's now with a funeral director - his niece was born a few days ago but didn't make it. As the director goes to get paper towels to mop up the water Adam 'accidentally' spilled, Adam grabs an urn labeled 'Baby Doe', shoves it in his bag and hurries out. Adam? Billy spots - and calls after him. Nikki comes by to admire Ashley's beautiful baby. They haven't had a chance to talk. Agreeing, Ashley would like to clear the air - about the night of the storm. Nikki flashes back to telling Victor how much she loves him (and her certainty that, deep down, he'll never love another woman like her). OK, Nikki sighs - let's get it all out in the open. Gathering in the Abbott dining room, Jack's happy to hear Billy's planning Colleen's funeral - and has more good news - Ashley's joining her brothers at Jabot. Now, if only Traci would stay in GC. Billy would like to talk to Jack for a minute - excuse us? In the living room, Billy stuns Jack by announcing that he's resigning from Jabot. Back at Memorial, Adam's arranging for a package to be delivered to Sharon at the GCAC. He then peeks in (and listens) as Sharon tells Victor that his granddaughter died. Offering to help, Victor assures she'll always be part of his family. The world, MY world wouldn't be the same without Victor Newman, Sharon smiles through her @++%*. Ashley flashes back to driving in the rain - and tells Nikki that she only has flashes of that night. Patty had her seeing ghosts. It wasn't intentional, Ashley rambles on - until Nikki wonders what she's talking about (then catches on). YOU were driving the car that almost hit me!? her jaw drops. Billy needs something that's HIS - not Dad's (or Jack's) He's NOT running away. What's going on? Mac wanders in to ask. Jack rants about Billy leaving the security of a multimillion dollar company - and for what? To join the circus? Is Billy making a rash decision in his grief? No - Billy's been contemplating a move for quite some time. When Mac doesn't appear eager to 'talk some sense' into Billy, Jack snaps that she'll feel differently once he's back in his bar stool at Jimmy's every night. Keep the job, Billy says as he walks out. Ashley knew she hit something. Yes, Nikki WAS in the road that night - she was a wreck (after dumping Paul and her unsettling chat with Victor). Waiting for her cab, she saw some lights - and dove out of the way (suffering only scratches). Ashley's so sorry - I could have killed you. I was safe and sound in Colorado, Nikki assures - adding that she sent letters (that no one received). Too bad - they'd have saved Ashley a lot of guilt. Yes - Ashley told Victor that she thought she'd hit Nikki. So that explains Ashley's odd reaction to seeing Nikki at the hospital. I thought you were haunting me, Ashley admits. It's Nikki's turn to be sorry. Thank God we cleared this up. Ashley wants to put this horrible summer behind her - the way she was used and manipulated. Your daughter looks just like Nicholas when he was born, Nikki remarks in parting (leaving Ashley to look unsettled). Noah suggests he spend some time with Summer - he missed her while she was in Europe. Nick knows what it's like growing up with parents in a messed up relationship. And yes - it's no secret that grandpa's done some bad things to Nick. But Noah watched Nick waiting to see if Victor could make it. If Nick can forgive his Dad, so can Noah. He'd like to be at the service for the baby - to say good bye. Good boy - I love you, Nick rewards his son with a hug. And once alone, he calls Phyllis to leave a message saying he's going to visit his Dad. Adam continues to eavesdrop as Victor reassures Sharon that the entire family is behind her. Sharon feels badly for the trouble she's caused in Nick's marriage - he needs to focus on Phyllis and Summer. Wise, old Victor knows there's different kinds of love - what Nick feels for Sharon will never go away. YOU'RE the love of his life. Get well soon, Sharon gives him a tender good bye kiss. Watching Sharon leave, Adam gets a call to confirm the package arrived at the club. Billy now drops by Ashley's room. No black tomorrow - screw tradition. Colleen, the rebel, would definitely approve. Sure he could have called, but Billy wanted to see the 'munchkin'. Plus, Jack's pissed that he's leaving Jabot. Billy needs something to be passionate about. Ashley understands - the difference between love and obligation. Follow your own path - even Jack will come around and be there for Billy, she assures. Alone again, Ashley hopes Faith can forgive her for what she's about to do - then removes her diamond encrusted wedding ring. Adam? Nikki approaches - and invites him to join her in Victor's room. You don't have to be nice - you think I'm a creep, Adam replies. Nikki knows he's done some terrible things - but Victor loves and wants to forgive him. You've been given a second chance, my friend. It's up to Adam to prove he deserves it. Victor awakens to find Nick at his bedside. Summer? She's good - with Phyllis at the movies. Therapy's 'humming along'. Nick mentions the terrible things he said - about Patty - the night Victor got shot. He meant it then - and now. But his voice cracking, Nick confides he and Sharon lost a baby. Victor knows - Sharon was here. It's happening all over again, Nick falls apart. Facing the loss of another daughter, he can't stay angry at Victor. I need my Dad right now, Nick leans over to weep on him. Back home, Jack apologizes for being so hard on Billy. The brothers agree that Colleen's funeral comes before anything. Hanging up, Mac informs Billy that they can pick their stuff up at the party store in the morning. Steve comes in to add he's called everyone on the list - and told them to dress colourfully. Yes - Traci's OK with it all - but can't help think of all the loss the Abbott's have suffered (without falling apart). She could be curled up in a ball - but instead, they're planning a party to celebrate Colleen's life. Dad's sure to be looking down at them (with Colleen and Brad) saying 'way to go kids'As Nikki returns, Victor's assuring Nick that Cassie's giving his baby girl the grand tour of heaven right now. Nick has much to be grateful for - Mom's back, Victor's alive, Noah's got his head on straight again, Summer's improving. But he mourns not holding his daughter. Why can't I have one more miracle? Nick whines (as Ashley passes by the window with Faith). Sharon's on the phone with the psych facility - trying to track down her baby's remains. What? There's no DR Taylor on your staff? Hanging up to answer the door, Sharon receives a box. Inside? An urn of ashes, from the mortuary. Adam's at the ranch - looking unsettled and depressed. He flashes back to his Mom sending him off to Harvard. I'm so proud of you - a good man with a good heart. You'll do wonderful things with your life. Slowly, Adam heads upstairs - but collapses - crying. I'm sorry I let you down Mom, he whispers - then sobs. Next: I have a letter from my father - may I read it aloud? Vikki arrives (brightly dressed) at Colleen's garden funeral ... Honey, you're not looking so hot, Neil (standing beside Devon) notices. It's just a hot flash, Lily quickly assures. I'm calling the doctor, Cane exclaims .... Oh my God! Victor! Nikki looks horrified - as, on the bed, Victor convulses. |

Eric Braeden's interview in EW.com:
In yet another blow to the already ailing soap opera world, Eric Braeden, the venerable star of CBS' The Young and the Restless, has exited the top-rated daytime drama after a nasty negotiation with Sony. The production company wanted the popular actor to take a pay cut for playing mega mogul Victor Newman, but Braeden-who's been on the soap since 1980-opted to leave instead. Barring any last-minute change, Braeden's final episode will air on Nov. 2. Reps for Sony and CBS had no comment, though one insider indicated that no further talks are planned. EW talked with Braeden, 68, about Sony's decision to exercise a draconian clause in his contract (his deal that was set to expire in November 2010 can still be renegotiated every 26 weeks) and what it means to the future of daytime dramas. EW: Where do things stand? Did your representative counter Sony's offer and you have yet to hear an answer? Braeden: Precisely. As of today, are you willing to take what Sony offered? No. There is no appreciation of the fact that I've been an important part of the show for 27 years that has been no. 1 in the ratings. That's extraordinary. So to be dealt with in a perfunctory matter as if you had just known these people for a few months is what is most offensive. This is a certain corporate culture now that is very deleterious. Is it true you offered to take a pay cut before? I was the first one [to offer] because I knew that if we all did it, we would insure the continuation of the show. I did it two years ago when I signed my last contract, which I thought would last until next November. Did you say your on-set goodbyes? I said this could be a long goodbye, and I may not see you for a long time. Who knows? I'm not saying I've been let go - we're still negotiating. But it feels like that. What does this say about the state of the industry when a production company is asking the star of the No. 1 show in daytime to take a pay cut? Should everyone be worried? Yes, though it depends on what the star does. All options are open right now. What can I tell you? I know there are certain economic realities that dictate the actions they are taking right now, but the manner in which its being done is most insulting. You taped your last episode on Sept. 23. Was that the way you wanted Victor to go? No. It was rushed. It was obviously meant to intimidate. It was obviously done with enormous forethought to coincide with the end of the 26-week cycle. Essentially that is what the business is doing now and has been doing for a while. And quite frankly, it's outrageous. When I sign a three-year deal, I'm obligated to fulfill that deal. The producers, however, can come to me after a half-year and say, "We've changed our minds." Where in the world of business does this kind of contract exist? Do I blame the people for wanting to squeeze as much out of us as they can? I do not. The question is, when do you squeeze too much? Would you do another daytime drama? I doubt that. Never say never in this business or in life, but I doubt that. Can you see the genre still existing in 10 years? Yes I can. How many reality shows can you watch? They're so obviously phony. Our show deals with adult problems in a long continuous manner, and very much like the way things are dealt with in real life. In that sense I think there will always be a need for (soaps). They're almost novelistic in their approach. |

See, I don't blame Eric B. for this at all. He agreed to a cut but it is THE WAY THEY DID IT..no respect. He has been key to this show for years and it has
been #1 hate him/ love him..personally, I love him.
Interesting show yesterday with Adam talking to Sharon and later he falls down and falls apart on the Newman twisty stairs sobbing because he knows (after looking at himself 'bit foggy' in a mirror) that mama Hope would be so ashamed of him for his evil doings. And, to top it off, like Ashley, Sharon in her agony tried to be of comfort 'to the man who did the evil deed'. Will Adam ever find redemption?? He even spoke with Nikki about wanting to change and his admissions to having done horrible things in the past but (of course) he did not explain the recent horrors! So, he had a big meltdown...will that ever be enough? Nikki visited Ashley and the whole 'car accident' became clear: Nikki did see a car but dodged it with only a few scrapes/ later Nikki's letters to the kids/Victor never arrived at the Ranch. So, Ashley was 'very relieved' now that she has the truth and explained to Nikki she thought she had killed her. Then Nikki looked at her baby and said, "boy, the baby sure looks like Nicholas when he was born" OH OH! Then we had Nick with Victor. Nick told Victor he'd never forget what he did to his Special Girl...then it was very emotional as Nick broke into $+!#% and said he loved his father regardless, and needed him. He really 'sobbed' and can't get past loosing his daughter (Faith) with Sharon. Sharon on the other hand gets a visit from Red who tries to reach out to Sharon but Sharon is just so down and out she feels it's just another Phyllis ploy to say, "I GOT THE PRIZE"...prior to Red arriving Sharon was remembering the moments she shared the pregnancy with Nick and their plans to buy a great home and get old together... sadly, she tore up the dreams before Red arrived. Red offered to help Sharon anyway she needed support 'even though' she knows they hate each other..but, for the sake of Nick and his loss and NOAH/SUMMER..they need to do this. And as this was going on.. Sharon had told Adam she didn't have the ashes from her dead baby and didn't understand this? (because there is NO DEAD BABY) but, Adam finds out where the closest funeral home and manages to send 'baby ashes' to Sharon at the Club..so, Sharon believes they (Nick/Noah/herself) can get past this. Noah was finally on the show and showed great maturity supporting both his parents. HE MADE HIS MAMMY AND PAPPY PROUD. Also, Sharon visited with Victor and that was a good scene. Sharon said it was necessary now for Nick to focus on Red/Summer - his family now..BUT VICTOR SURPRISED ME BY TELLING SHARON: "you will always be his first love and his only love and that will never go away" Sharon was surprised and politely left. He said this obviously because he knows he needs to be back with Nikki...so Sharon is Nick's Nikki in life. Billy is planning a Celebration of Life for C.C.... he thought that was the best way to say goodbye to Cool-Lean and Tracy agreed. She didn't want a morbid funeral...and Celebrations of Life are now 'the in and happening thing!' They later discussed loosing John/Brad and Cool-Lean all in one year..the terrible tragedy of what fate dishes out.
