Do I think she'll make it far? Probably, but I don't think she can be compared to people like Susie or Denise.

She's the force against Shambo, who clearly is on the outs, meaning Laura is in the drivers seat at Galu. They aren't really showing her as the leader, though, because that would put her out front and centre. Russ S screwed his own game to make the women happy (really she's the most visible woman over there so he's making her happy), and she's clearly the leader of this girl power 90210 thing (with soundbites of her doing yoga and cuddling with Monica and showing that she's playing the social game). She got a confessional (again, for no reason she's getting confessionals but unlike Monica they are longer and about other people in the tribe and about the tribe as a whole and her really observant comments about them) about yoga and how it's important for the tribe, and hey, they still won, so obviously she knows what's up. If Laura was the winner, and with such big characters like Russell H and going to TC all the time, they'd probably slowly work up this angle that this chick is playing without making it obvious. She's not the best contender but I think she's definitely in the Top 5 now that I think about it. Laura was INV in Ep1. She is edgically eliminated.

Palau maintained focus on both Ulong and Koror. Even though the story on Koror was how bored and sick of each other they were becoming, we still had tons of character development. Ulong got so much story, because they were marching to TC all the time. This season we don't have that pattern. Fooie Fooie is the perennial TC tribe, but there is almost no story for Golly except 90210 yoga sessions and sunshine and rainbows. Nice Russel tells us his worry about sticking out and why he went against his better judgement to keep the women happy. The rest of the men slag each other or comment on the action. The women have had very little to say beyond immediate story. I agree that Shambo is being used to hide someone. But Ep3 gave us story development that she's being groomed to join the "people more like me". I plan to take another look at Ep1 to focus on Galu. Call it personal watchdogging, but I want to double check my impressions of a group I can barely remember.

And I thought edgic didn't read interviews or look at insider clips for more information on the show to pick the winner? I guess rules change over time...or maybe some people just don't know how to follow them.

Shambo approves of Russell acting like a leader. Shambo looks on and comments while John make a fool of himself. Shambo disapproves of everybody taking a break. Shambo leads them to victory in the final phase of the IC. Shambo, Shambo, Shambo. Shambo will go far in the game. And if the winner is someone else on Galu, then they're well hidden in the shadow of Shambo.

Thank you Oo, I almost put her as my number one contender. Phew, that would have been a mistake! I completely forgot that she doesn't fall under edgic guidelines, thus I can't put her as a contender or waste any more time debating whether or not she will be our winner. Thankfully because you reminded me, less time will be wasted on edgically-inviable players and more time can be focused on people with edits that at least somewhat follow the guidelines. It is highly unlikely that a decimating tribe also has the winner, JT, Earl, Yul, Parvati, Dani, Chris, Brian, Vee, Ethan and Hatch were never on dominating tribes. Things bode very well for the winner coming from Foa Foa, but the winner from Foa Foa will also have two other people who make it to the end. Shambo and Russell H both make the final six and they make the final week and CBS is happy it's not so much about who wins it's about getting the characters on every show.

The closest I can think of is Rotu who had, of all people, Kathy (similar to Shambo in more ways than not). Even Drake had Rupert, Fairplay, and Sandra who shared airtime.

I didn't ruin the thread, except to bullies like you who disagreed with me. to the topic though, I do think that, although her edit doesn't seem to be a winner's edit, that Yasmin was not invisible this week. she was the topic of much of tribal council, and her face time, from a Golly tribe standpoint, was good. several reaction shots that stood out to me, editing wise, at challenge meeting. and significant face time without speaking time means UTR, no? Now is the time for Oowatanite to let me know that I know nothing about edgic and should shut up.

The situation can get confused because of tribal switches that can muddy the definition of what forms a "decimating tribe". But looking at some specific seasons: S1 (Rich): went into the merge equal in numbers, but more strategically astute; Tagi wiping out the other tribe gave us the term "Pagong". S2 (Tina): went into the merge equal in numbers, but used the previous votes to gain control and eventually complete the Pagonging S5 (Brian): had numbers after the fake merge, and completed a straight-forward Pagonging S8 (Amber): once they went to 2 tribes and merged, it was basically a straight Pagonging (except when Shii-ann had immunity) S10 (Tom): the poster season for a decimating tribe S12 (Aras): had numbers into the merge; only Terry's IC run stopped a straight Pagonging S15 (Todd): had numbers into the merge; much like S2, the core group of the dominant tribe never gave up its numbers S18 (JT): the one counter-example in a no-swap season where the tribe with numbers at the merge managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. So I think it more fair to say that the "decimating tribe" generally does produce the winner. The other winners you mention (Earl, Yul, Parvati, Danni, Chris, Vee, Ethan) are ones where tribal loyalties were impacted by swaps. Earl was on the dominant tribe post-swap. Yul was on the dominant tribe that lost its numbers post-mutiny, but still managed to recover through challenge performance, and a poorly designed immunity idol. Parvati's season doesn't really fit either way. Danni could be seen as an exception but NewNakum did not have strong loyalties post-merge. Chris could be seen as an exception, but again the loyalties were impacted by the tribal switch. Ethan's original tribe had numbers at the merge, before throwing them away, getting them back, then completing the Pagonging.

You know how I like proving people wrong ;) Who cares if someone supported Corinne (like myself) or Crystal as opposed to Kenny, Marcus, Matty or Randy? They all lost. Edgic isn't about picking the 5 males with the best edits, it's about picking ONE winner. It doesn't matter at all if you think your picks of Marcus or Randy or whoever are "better" than those who picked Corinne or Crystal, because they ALL lost. All those choices are equal, because none of them were Bob. It doesn't matter who's edit is closest to the Edgic guidelines if they don't actually win. Anybody who picked Marcus, Randy, Kenny, Matty, etc. was just as stupid as people like myself who picked Corinne. None of us had it right, it doesn't matter who was closest (and Marcus was the 1st one voted out from that entire group), because Edgic doesn't work by trying to get the closest to the winner -- there's one winner only and if you don't pick that one person, you're 100% wrong. That's why I'm not afraid to avoid the "safe" choices (like Marcus, Mick, etc.) and go for someone else like Corinne or Liz instead.
