John is not INV. He had a confessional, and several thousand reaction shots. Did anyone else notice John's close-up when Jeff said "and one of you
will be leaving"? I like John, but his chances of surviving to the jury house are slim.

John got a confessional? I thought that was Erik.

I did notice, like in all the other episodes before, they keep showing Liz's face/reactions when she's not even relevant to
whatever is going on at the time. Like when Jeff was calling Russell S. over to make the decision for the reward of GALU, they showed Liz's face
(that's just one example). I find that somewhat interesting.

Take Ashley's edit this episode with a grain of salt. She was a boot target, she had to be shown.
If anyone Russell S. rose up some. I gave him an UTR1 last episode, but this episode they could have very easily not let him explain why he chose the comfort.

Let us take a moment to celebrate the early exit of BenHole.
Two OTTNNs out of three eps equals OTTNN overall. A new Survivor record ! Congratz BenHole ! |

TheWizard wrote:Agreed. Folks are giving Jaison props for swaying Mick. But that's ignoring the fact that Russell H. swayed Mick right back after Jaison. Sure, Mick eventually went along with everyone else on the Ben boot, but the way the episode was edited, the turning point came down to Russell changing his mind and giving Jaison what he asked for. Everything is edited as going through Russell. Plus, given the edit Jaison got for next week's preview, I wouldn't be banking on him just now. |

Monica-the ever present nobody LOL. One confessional in every episode so far-how hilarious.
Shambo has a REAL chance of eventually joining what is left of Foa Foa and has a real shot of winning. She could be accepted by Foa Foa the way JT was accepted by Timbira. Gotta say that the season is confusing me. Ben was mentally challenged. What if someone called him "white trash" -how would he react? Liz's reaction shots were EVERYWHERE! In a season like this, should she be eliminated for not having any confessionals? She was included in quite a few discussions and was praised by Shambo for being a warhorse in challenges. Dunno what to think of her. On paper, Mick is the clear winner. Not falling for another Marcus though. There will be NO clear winners. He absolutely has to be #1 though. While Ben was OTTNN again (has there ever been two in a row?), Jaison is obviously OTTP-possibly OTTPP for his eloquence. EVERYTHING he said at TC was 100% true and well stated. Then, the promo shows him wanting to quit? Geez-from hero to zero in one episode? Ashley???? That's a tough one. She was HUGE this past episode for being a target again. I'm seeing Sierra right now. She's being shown because she has to be shown, but she hasn't yet done or said anything that is offensive. She may actually be playing the game. As the story goes, the question remains-would she be shown this much without being a target? I'd have to say no. She has a MAJOR uphill battle to actually win, but the numbers are at least there. I just have no earthly idea how she'd ever last. Meet Debbie Bebee's little sister-Natalie....The Debbie to Russell's "Coach". Then there's out buddy Russell. I just don't get it. They pimped him as a badass villain. Maybe it gets more heated later. I see him as a softy with "wannabe" confessionals. He's not a bad guy. He's playing the friggin' game. He hasn't said anything to anyone that is in any way offensive. He wanted Ben around because he knew that Ben was "badder" than him and wanted someone worse next to him. If anything, that's presumptive insecurity. Russ is a normal guy playing an abnormal game. Ratings: FU FU Natalie: UTR3 (she was quite visible for someone who was not so visible) Ashley: CP4 Ben: OTTNN5 Russell: CP4 (yes-CP, NOT CPN this episode) Jaison: OTTP5 Mick: CPP3 Liz: UTRP3 (P because of Shambo's praise) GLUE Shambo: OTTP4 Monica: UTRP2 (cheerleader?) Dave: UTR2 Erik: not sure if they showed him-UTR-something Russell S: MORP3 (ladies man) Laura: UTR1 (not truly an N just because of the "90120" thing) Kelly: INV (geez!!!) Brett: INV (ditto) Yasmin: UTR2 John: INV * In all honesty, I had to actually look up the cast to find out most of Galu's names Winners: 1. Mick (the numbers are very solid right now) 2. Shambo (could very well solidify a flailing Foa at the merge-form a women's alliance) <GAP> 3. Liz (in a season like this, no confessionals are not necessarily a bad thing ESPECIALLY if you have tons of valuable face time) 4. Ashley (good visibility but for the absolute WRONG reasons-MAJOR uphill battle ahead of her) 5. Jaison (great numbers, far down the list due to next week's promo-would be higher without it (probably #2) 6. Russell H (he was very lightweight this episode-he's not as bad as we are supposed to think he is-he's coming across no differently than Todd Herzog, Brian Heidik or Rob Mariano during ASS(yes, I know he lost)-and I mean that seriously) <GAP> 7. Monica-hah!, just for laughs???-she's been in every episode, that's a lot for this season! |

Well, yeah sort of. However, reaction shots also meant nothing in Gabon because Bob, for many episodes, didn't even get THOSE.
Oh, btw, I made a mistake. I'd like to change my ratings for Monica to OTTP4. She had a confessional (two if you consider the break between them) AND did some bad ass Yoga!!!! That's GOT to count for something!!! |

Kelly was shown reading the treemail, lol so at least a UTR John had one confessional I think so UTR I think Brett was truly the only INV in this episode which is quite a feat for this season. *is proud of the editors* |

Did Yasmin get that much screentime in this episode or is all her visibility from the SPV concerned with what happened between her and Ben?
And not having a confessional shouldn't hurt Liz's chances, especially with her being present during many discussions... In another 20 person season, FvF, Parvati apparently didn't have any confessionals in the third episode either.. |

Informal edgicing during the episode
-The recap was REALLY dominated with heavy handed editing on how we should think about people, more then usual. The purple tribe was painted as getting sort of overconfident, not even caring/knowing there was a game going on (they were in a promo for this episode to), no mention of Yasmin annoying the yellow tribe, instead her fight with Ben is blamed entirely on him (makes sense knowing Ben goes home though, and that the fight was part of why Jaison got mad at him). -Evil Russel is getting repetitive quick with all of his talk about controlling the whole tribe, them being his zombies, hasn't he said that exact same thing in a previous episode? -Once again the yellow tribe is dominating the airtime, and there hasn't been a challenge yet 15 minutes into the episode. There's only been like 1 short scene from the purple tribe, about them doing yoga and just relaxing, and Shambo calling those 4 lazy. Not good for any of those 4. -Purple tribe is becoming another Fiji tribe of INV haves (what was their name, Moto?) with how little we're seeing them, it was obvious before the challenge even begun what the outcome was going to be. -We're getting a lot of hints this episode about the purple tribe being the lazy tribe, especially the women other then Shambo (and whoever that other guy doing yoga was). -Wow, what a TC, I'm surprised they hid all of that racial tension until TC, before TC it was just 'Jaison hates Ben, and we don't really know why, other then Ben getting a N edit'. -Doing informal edgic (and not looking at an edgic chart) I'd say Jaison and Mick look the best right now. I'm not liking the chances of anyone on the purple tribe right now, the only one who I think a casual viewer would know is Shambo, and maybe black Russel, maybe, oh and Yasmin to entirely because of going back with the yellow tribe last episode. Just a thought about Jaison, his edit this episode really interests me... think back to Fiji for a moment when we had an all African American F3. Remember when Dre kind of implied an all African American alliance (I think at the reunion show) by saying him, Earl and Cassandra had 2 other allies who didn't make it to the merge? And how they never had anyone in the season say or point out that those 3 were the African American alliance? So now think back to Jaison, why did they hide the racial tension until TC, when it was undeniable unless they were to skip Ben/Jaison's fight altogether (and lose lots of good footage in the process)? Could it be they just don't like that kind of contraversy and ignored it as much as they could, or maybe if he wins they wanted to avoid showing racial tension he was involved in as much as possible? I just used my DVR to look at the last episode of Survivor when Yasmin came to the yellow tribe, to see what evidence there was of Jaison feeling racial tension. Jaison was the very person to get a confessional bashing Yasmin for being rude to his tribe. Also when Ben and Yasmin fight they twice cut to a shot of Jaison watching them, looking annoyed (at who it's not clear). Later after a commercial break Jaison tells Mick he's getting really annoyed with Ben and that Ben hasn't been useful at challenges. Nowhere in the episode does anyone even imply that Ben sounded racist when fighting with Yasmin, though he sure came off of the fight looking bad. Well like I said before, maybe the simple explanation to all of this is that CBS just wants to avoid obvious racial tensions in reality shows as much as possible, maybe it doesn't really mean anything. Just something I found interesting doing informal edgic. |
