I don't even think Cody really has that many fans. He was riding on Melanie's coat tails this entire time. Seriously they had the choice to eliminate Austin or Cody and they choose Daniel.

Absolutely absurd that they kept Cody over Daniel. The ONLY reason that they kept him is because they think he is the second coming of a tween tard love
interest. They obviously think that Cody is going to bring them huge $$ on a top 10 tour.
It really makes a farce of this show. It is NOT the best dancer moving forward tonight, and I am pissed off. I am glad that Melanie is safe and Jamie Rae. The hip hop number was hot, once again I think Canada has it over the US for hip hop routines. Nappy tab has to pop and lock themselves into oblivion. |

Too bad my Daniel is gone. Now I have to turn my attention to Kim, and Emmanuel is far exceeding my expectations.

I finally saw the performance episode. I must say, I laughed when Rex said that Kim was making him question parts of himself.
Anyway, it was a rather weak night. I liked the tap routine, Amy did her best latin routine yet with the jive (Vincent killed it), and Emanuel improved his hip-hop ability (he's not great, but better than before), while Kim did well again. Those two really need a ballroom routine, along with JR. Cody/Melanie's routine did not have much for Cody, and he was week, Melanie overdid it a bit, but she was okay. Oh, and Austin sucked only slight less that Corynne in that salsa. Natalli and Francis did one of their lifts last year, but they did it well. As for Blake's routine; It was okay (the smearing of the eye make-up was done in S5 with Kayla's zombie routine), and JR was really good. I fucking hate that the judges pick on a mediocre performance (Daniel), and rave about a bad one (Cody, Austin). It makes it so obvious who they want gone. Mia and Rex get points for actually criticizing dancers (and Mia gets more points for picking Vincent as her favorite), but they really should have ripped Cody apart, or at least lobbied to send him home. As for the solos, Cody did the exact same thing as before; amateurish middle school talent show soft hip-hop. Austin seems to be aware of the fact that people see him as a bag of tricks, and I like how his solos have gotten less and less trick-filled (although he did a pirouettathon again last night, but who cares). Daniel, just like his solo last week, started off with really interesting movement quality (for like 5 seconds), and then just became bad. As for the girls, Melanie had another quirky, yet forgettable solo (I actually think Amy out-did her in the quirky department with her solo last week), and her leaps are too soft. Corynne had a pretty solid solo until the end where she became gangly and unstable again. JR was worse than last week (when she wasn`t even that strong), and totally looked like she flubbed a move at the end. She really needs to work on her solos. The group routine was okay; not outstanding. Overall, this is a step back from last week. I am actually surprised at how many people would have preferred Austin to leave over Daniel (as opposed to Cody). Austin may lack emotional range, but he`s leagues better than Cody. I question the sanity of anyone who doesn`t list Cody as the worst male dancer of the season (maybe even ever). He can`t lift girls, can`t partner them, has no latin movement quality, no emotional range, weak solos, weak hip-hop performances, he`s forgotten choreography, and, as I said before, he`s not even cute. |

Littltimmy, I agree with you wholeheartedly, Cody is a joke now. He does not deserve to be there. Even when being placed in the bottom 3 the judges still want
him in top 10! I think the producers believe he is $$ for the SYTYCD tour. There is no other reason to keep him. And hopefully he blows it huge this week and
he goes down with the vote.
Tara Jean and Everett were both on my early hit list, but am always happy when I see someone surprise me and their last 2 routines have been a ton o fun. First Tap Eva' -- eat that USA!! |

IA, those 2 should go home and based on consistency and skill, I think the top 6 should be obvious. Tara-Jean, Everett, Emmanuel, Kim, Jamie Rae and Vincent.
Done.

Melanie/Vincent: paso doble. I actually liked the choreography, and it was a good paso (not amazing). I hope they use Francis and Natalie more often, because Tony and Melanie's routines are getting very generic, and Gustavo Vargus needs to stick to salsa and mambo (his international latin routines have been the bad kind of unique). This paso was unique and different in a very good way, and Vincent was awesome, and Melanie showed a huge improvement over her last latin routine. But, it's annoying that 4 out of the six routines Vincent has done this season have been latin international routines (the only one of the five he hasn't done is rumba). It's frustrating enough that he is getting dance styles he's specialized in, but what's even more frustrating is that he's shown he actually can do other styles. Why is the show protecting him? Well, I actually think they were protecting Melanie; they give her the best partner left, and the slowest, least hip-action filled latin routine, and now the show can say she can do latin. She did well, but she couldn't touch Natalli's ferociousness last year (or her skirt work). I honestly think that, despite the generic music choice, last year's paso was the best the show has seen. So, it was really good, but Melanie was a little less fierce than I would like her to be. Cody/Amy: Well, we know who the producers want gone now... Amy could be the first person booted (or even hitting the bottom) after a Stacey Tookey routine in the history of the show. I hate how mean the judges were to her; she did very well. Now, I still hate Cody; but he sucked a lot less than I expected he would. He seemed to be able to partner Amy pretty well. It still doesn't change my mind about him. Overall, it was one of the weaker pieces of the night, but not bad by any means. Kim/Everett: Sean Cheesman is on fire this year, and Kim and Everett really sold the routine. I wouldn't call it the best routine of the season (well... the season has been weak, but I still love dancehall), but was was pretty awesome. Kim, I feel, really benefits from having a good choreographer, and Everett no longer seems to be on the producer hit list (I guess they finally realize how popular he is). He is really surprising me, and could make it much farther still. Emmanuel/TJ: The weakest routine of the night. It's understandable, since they were the only two who were completely out of their element this evening. Considering the crappiness of every other male dancer who has done a latin routine this season, Emmanuel was not that bad (although he is so lanky it's disturbing when he tries to be sexy). The same can be said for TJ, who was better than Emmanuel, but not very good. The choreography was okay, but wasn't that song already used for a samba with Evan/Randi? Overall, compared to the catastrophic latin routines this season, it was decent (not very good). TJ needs to get her style eventually, though. She has also surprised me, and could be a dark horse to win. Austin/JR: I think it was one of Sho-Tyme's better routines. and JR really did well with it. Austin was surprisingly decent; I'm surprised the judges were so lukewarm with him (I think they want him gone now, the the costume they put him in only confirms it). Now, for the solos, the girls, quite frankly, sucked. It was so disappointing to watch, especially considering that each meh female solo was succeeded by a somewhat amazing male solo. The one exception was Amy/Cody. Cody did his usual mediocre soft hip-hop, and while it was better than his previous efforts, it was still very forgettable. Amy, on the other hand, did very well. Her past two solos have been excellent, and she was far and way the best female soloist of the night. I might even say that it was good enough to throw a wrench in the producer's plans, and save her. TJ gets a solid second place for the solos (it was good and imaginative). The three other girls were so disappointing (considering people see them as the three female front runners). Melanie's quirky style is becoming one note and tiresome, and her leaps were worse than ever tonight. JR tried a more hip-hop flavoured solo, and it had attitude, but not much else, and it needed more content (her solos are getting progressively worse), and I was never impressed with Kim's solos (her audition, her solo in finals week), and she did not change my mind with this lyrical hip-hop. It was very forgettable, and maybe the worst solo of the night. If those three don't improve their solos, it will be very hard to route for any of them to win. I actually think that TJ would be the most solid female winner at this point. Also, I no longer want Amy to leave (even though she most likely will); her solos are terrific. Despite being a contemporary dancer, she really switched up her style each time, from the hip-hop flavoured one she did top 16, to the super quirky, poppy one she did top 14, and finally, this very technical one she did this evening. But if Amy doesn't leave, I have no idea who should... JR? Kim? I don't no. It matters not; Amy's good as gone. For the guys; they were generally great. Austin is really working on his solos, and this was his best yet. Everett had such a fun tap solo (and I'm surprised his ankles aren't broken). Emmanuel, despite relying on his triple axle yet again (not a surprise), was really fun, light, and full of energy, and had great performance quality (that was a surprise). Cody had the worst male solo, but better than his usual efforts. Vincent did a more samba oriented solo, and while they aren't as good as his jive ones, they are still really fun and high energy. But he has only done samba or jive; I want to see him do a paso or cha cha solo (not a rumba, though; that's a recipe for disaster). I would say his solo was second weakest of the men, but still good. I am really worried for him, though. With Cody not being a disaster tonight, and with him, Emanuel, and Everett seaming to have such strong fanbases, and with Austin going last, he could very well go tomorrow, which would be a shame, since he is one of the few redemptive qualities of the season. He also needs to show how versatile he can be again, and not just be used as a "go to guy" for the producers when they need to make a female look good doing a latin dance. And look, I wrote way, way too much. Oh well. Anyway, I only care about Vincent, but Everett and TJ are gaining momentum, and I am still very impressed with Emanuel. I agree with the above poster about the top six, although Melanie could sneak in there if she steps it up. Cody needs to leave, but he won't. Ugh...

A couple of weeks ago Jean Marc said that we needed to vote so that THEY would know what to do. I thought that was code for "tell us to get rid of
Cody." Most people with taste are just too apathetic to vote this season. TPTB are prolly trying to maximize ticket sales for the tour.
Everett's grown on me. He and Vincent are my top 2 for now. Don't care for any of the girls. |

Right now my top 6 are Vincent, Everett, Emmanuel (wtf!?), Tara Jean, Melanie M and Jayme Rae. Kim could push someone out of that group but I just can't
quite convince myself she's as good as I think she is.
Cody and Austin should probably both leave tonight but it'll be Vincent and Amy. Amy is definitely the least impressive of the girls left. Hope last night's show is a trend and the choreographers start actually trying for the last three performance nights. |

Well, those eliminations were predictable. I hate that Cody was in the bottom; it means his fans will rally for him next week, and someone who's actually
talented (like Vincent) will leave. I swear, if Vincent leaves next week... it will be a bigger catastrophe than when the other Vincent left at top 8 last
year, because at least that Vincent was in good company (well, on the female dancers side anyway), so the show was still worth watching for them.
Amy's solo was not nearly as good as last nights, and yet it was still better than Melanie's. Cody's solo was even more abysmal than usual (and he needs to stop pointing to the audience), and let me say, Austin wiped the floor with him. His solo was very, very strong, and showed how much better he is than Cody. Seriously, when a contemporary dancer does a hip-hop oriented solo that upstages a hip-hop dancer's solo, you know something is wrong. I hope Vincent is paired with TJ next week and they get a super emotional contemporary routine (they are both LONG overdue for one), and I don't care if it's about cancer or dead parents or orphans with no legs or whatever; I'll be happy if it keeps them in the competition. I'm puzzled why so many people say that Amy is not up to par with the other girls. Other than TJ, she's had the hardest journey on this show, by far. Kim and JR have not been challenged, at all, and neither have gotten ballroom yet (which is atrocious). If any of the other three girls other than TJ got the routines that Amy got, they would have been gone a long time ago. Although, if Kim and JR eventually get a fast latin routine with hip action, and they kill, it, I will retract my statement (same with Melanie, if she improves on her mambo). But so far, JR and Kim have only proven to be great contemporary/jazz/hip-hop dancers who suck at solos. JR has had three chances to impress me with her solos, and has failed to do so each time (and Kim looks to be even worse than her), where as Amy has really impressed me the past two times (before tonight, since her solo now was only okay).

I agree entirely. Cody's solo was the same rehashed moves we've seen before. Austin showed how versatile he is as a dancer. Cody needs to go back to
dancing in his bedroom at midnight.

I was pulling for Austin, but it was clear that he was going, if not this week, then next. Other than Cody, the four men are all strong dancers and anyone
leaving other than Cody is sad, but I'm preparing to deal with it. Vincent, Everett, TJ should be top 3. I was totally ready to hate Emanuel, but
surprisingly, I love his dancing; he really throws himself into it. I wouldn't be disappointed if he bumped Everett out of the top 4.

I'm starting to think that Everett is going to win this. He's reminding me of Benji quite a bit. I'm not sure that he's my favourite, but
I'd be pretty happy with him as a winner.

I don't know if it was more funny or uncomfortable when Austin got eliminated the Cody tweeners in the audience let loose a thrilled cheer and then quickly
zipped it when they, I assume, realized how nasty it sounded while Austin was getting the boot. So much for Austin supporters tracking over to Cody.
Leah's comment of "this reminds me of Vincent last year" couldn't have been less sincere. Last year when Vincent left she was sobbing and forgot to do his farewell clip. For Austin she was practically cheery. |
