Hey, I hate Joel too. Pretty much the gist with a lot of casual fans (or maybe the ones that I know), is that they love alpha males (even if they are complete assholes like Joel). So anyone that takes out the alpha males are hated (Cirie and Parvati for all of the micronesia guys, Johnny Fairplay/Lill for taking out Rupert, Todd/Amanda taking out James, Peih Gee and Jaimie for taking out Aaron etc.)seltzer3 wrote:
I'm not sure if Cirie is all that loved in the mainstream (especially after Fans vs. Favorite). I remember several casual fans hating Cirie for daring to take out Yau-man, Ozzy, and Truck (which I find incredibly disturbing). Ok, I can definitely understand people being upset with Cirie taking out Yau-Man. Ozzy, pehaps. But JOEL? You mean skinhead Joel? Damn, we have horrible taste...
The thing is while both mainstream and people at Sucks loved Cirie, each grouped loved Cirie for completely completely different reasons. It seemed that the mainstream casual fans loved Cirie because she was the "lovable underdog" the whole sitting on the couch story. Whereas Sucks loved Cirie, because she was incredibly socially and strategically savvy.
