Uhhhh.......... Why? He seems level headed. Social. A little older. Just athletic enough. I'm not saying he wins but he might.

The rest of the cast must be boring as fuck for Russell to be getting this much focus, even for a major character. Sounds like Fiji when all they could talk
about was Dreamz' controversial decision.
It's never good when one player or one event gets THIS much pre-season hype. Means the rest of the season is a major snooze. |

This is the link to the Russel video...
http://bit.ly/izs0w He does seem so evil... especially when he is drinking some of the water and smiling as he is pouring it out |

It's going to be interesting seeing this guy on S20 (if he tries to repeat his strategy), especially since the other All-Stars won't know anything about him. One can't imagine Coach or Boston Rob taking too well to waking up and seeing all of the canteens empty. |

Except that VG said Russell was in finals, it's like he's the first boot with him in all the ads!

Where did VG post that?
There is some open ended comment about someone owning up to their misdeeds. If that is what you are referring to? |

I'm not getting "evil" out of burning a sock. Hitler was evil. The Lisbon earthquake was evil. This is just petty meanness. And at least it's
strategic meanness, not just obliviousness to the game or to people around him, like we saw from Rocky and them on Fiji, or from stickboy at the start of FvF.
(Interesting meta message from the promo monkeys though - are they annoying us with the early bald Russell hype so they can control how we think?)
I think the Betsy-Russell interactions could be very interesting. From her RealityBlurred interview: "Just like being a cop, that's what thing I would bring: Just nod your head and smile as they're talkin' to you, but don't believe one thing they say, because they're all jerks," she laughed. |

I actually think Russell will be fun to watch. He's far more Fairplay than he is Coach/Randy. Coach was just an annoying douchebag with no self-awareness.
At least Russell seems to understand that what he is doing is for game purposes.

This season doesn't look too promising to me. Especially since we'll have an obnoxious personality taking all the screen time..

i hope russell does not receive a "coach" edit, where they give him 8 confessionals an episode and at least one confessional to the other people on
his tribe commenting on him.

Redmond wrote: I agree with this. Russell seems like a huge character, and will get significant airtime. However, the fact that the evil moves he's making will be for the game and not just because he's an arrogant douche will make him more enjoyable to watch, as opposed to Randy or Coach. I just hope it's not all about Russell and that we focus on other people too, which will be very difficult with a 20 person cast. |

CBS has added 3 new thirty second promos about Russell to the Survivor website. Given this level of hype, Russell H. will last at most 7 episodes and could be
out as early as episode 5 if a tribal shuffle occurs. I can only remember one season where there were promos about a contestant early in the season and that
was Rob M. in Marquesas. His promos started before episode 3 and he was booted 4 episodes later.

he might be a merge boot or the 1st juror.

Heliox wrote: X If Russell is so eviland wants to sabotage his tribe, he will probably end up backstabbing his alliance with Ben and Ashly by telling others that they are plotting against them so that the tribe would boot those two first. Remember, Russell wants to control how people think. If Ashly and Ben think that they are in control with a (fake secret alliance on Russell's part) then Russell can make those two targets for the rest of the tribe with out Ashly and Ben knowing it. If Russell sees Ashly and Ben as a threat, they will be the first to go from the tribe. If not then Russell is not as evil as he thinks. Bottom Line |

round peg wrote:I originally thought that but with all the early hype, I doubt that Russell H. makes it that far. With 20 castaways.merge boot or first juror would have Russell H. lasting 9 or 10 episodes (like Jerri in Outback) and I think that the average viewer would get fed up with that level of hype for so many episodes. Russell is being hyped this early to give viewers an initial hook into the season. I expect Russell to flame out fairly early in the season whereas Jerri was more of a relatively slow burn. |
