They have another show on DIY called Kitchen Renovations with that Paul guy with the mustache and the think Minnesota accent. That show gives a ton of knowledge on actual construction/remodeling techniques as well as the design side.

Mr. White Folks... The inside sources say that HGTV is fairly open within, but VERY concerned with how others see them, and at least the former Presidentess is quite conservative, personally. They supposedly have a fairly "don't ask don't tell policy."

LOL, because the mark of a great designer is doing all of the work. Antonio is still on the show because it was pre-planned that he was going to win. (crossing my fingers that I'm wrong and whitebread Lonnie wins...only because she's the only one left I don't actively dislike) Torrie, Torrie, Torrie. I want to be Team Leader because I choose the plantings for spec homes. Uh huh Torrie wanted to be team leader because she chose exteriors for custom-built homes I think it was - either just general "exteriors" or "exterior walls", but it wasn't specifically plantings. And she I think knew she had the most to prove of this F4 so why not go for it? They would've booted her this ep whether she was leader or not. If she wasn't leader and had nothing to do with the budget issue, Vern probably would've said something like "Going over-budget is bad but bad hosting is just completely inexcusable" or some BS like that before sending her on her way.

BS? That is truth. She was team lead so they blame her for much of the lack of communication (deserved... a good team leader would have had much tighter communication); but I think the real reason she was gone was because of her whackadoodle hosting. I would be pretty certain theymentioned it in greater detail, but it was edited out because the over budget thing seemed higher drama. Overall, though, they can control budget on a production like this. What they can't fake so much would be poor overaslll concept (Torri's "bad," here) and bad hosting (again, guilty).

It looked like something most average people could have come up with on their own. If Torri wasn't so excruciating to listen to, I would've thought Dan's mistake would've been enough to get him bounced. I honestly don't believe I'd faithfully watch a show starring any of them, but I really believe it's Tattoouche's to lose (LOVE that nic).

Like cg said, that's NOT BS. It's the most important thing. They can have behind the scenes people do everything for these shows (manage budgets, do the labor, even come up with all the designs). The ONLY thing the winner actually has to be able to do is host. Torrie was the worst in that respect, so she SHOULD have been the one to go, regardless of any fuckups Dan may have had...

I don't like competition shows where things seem already decided before the challenges. No matter how bad Torrie was, anyone who goes $5,000 over budget should've been eliminated. If there had been no budget mistake, I would've agreed Torrie should've gone. But having that huge of a mistake just highlights how a show can justify whatever to get whoever they want gone. If Torrie had been in Dan's shoes and Dan were the leader, I have no doubt Vern or one of them would've said something like "Dan was the leader, but ultimately he couldn't control what Torrie signed off on and anyone who goes $5,000 over budget has to be eliminated". But, since it was the other way around, even though they should've eliminated Dan, they just gave him a thrashing and still eliminated Torrie like they always planned to.

The reason this elimination was probably pre-determined is that, really, Torrie should have been eliminated LAST week for being so bad at hosting. If you think of it as that they had a double elimination for that challenge of Perez and Torrie, but just let Torrie stick around this week and have a non-elimination, it's easier to tolerate...

Meredith Corp is also a client of mine - they own Better Homes and Gardens and about a million other design publications. A large percentage of their staff is ghey and I'm sure a good chunk of the designers they feature are. Their magazines do seem to feature at least one home per issue that has a gay couple. For example, Renovation Style - it might say 'homeowner David Rosenbergsteinowitz and his partner Mike Ock, purchase the classic Chicago brick bungalow as a fixer upper....'. Meredith is HQ'd in Des Moines, so yes, relatively conservative place. But ain't that a 'good' thing? Just treats the people like any other - no distinction, no discrimination. Whereas it might have the verbiage like above about the gay couple, it might also have 'Jeanette Samuelson and her husband, Mark, enlisted architect James Van Rimjob to design a classic Nantucket shingle home....'. Seems to me that it treats all people the same, but yes, they do shy away from the word 'gay'. I don't really have a problem with that. BTW - if you go show by show, you'll realize that pretty much every HGTV show has at least one ghey person on. Look at Divine Design - she apparently recruits from 'Gay Seamster Vocational High'. The best is when the old seamstress dude started figure skating on the family's hockey rink. That little queen buried the needle on the new GayDar App for my iPhone. Every other person on an HGTV show is either ghey or Canadian, which, let's face it, really is the same thing isn't it?

We worked with our builder's 'designer' when we built our house. When they say 'chose exteriors' what they mean was, helped pick out colors for cedar siding, colors for trim, windows, stone or brick, etc. Has nothing to do with plantings. I'm sure a certified arborist would shit a river birch to see plantings chosen so random and haphazardly. Just dawned on me - did they have ANY color in the plantings? Annuals, etc? Silly me, all this time, I thought flowers and plants actually had COLOR.
