Jordin has proved her talent, though I don't look for her to win. I fully expect Blakes thin reedy voice to be heard and voted for by every teeny bopper from Ca to Maine.

Quote: funny cuz I seem to recall after she sang Broken Wing Simon saying that was the first time he'd thought she could win American Idol. The problem with Melinda was that she was at her peak at the beginning of the season. Jordin kept improving and growing and that is what people respond to. IMO Melinda shouldn't have been eligible to compete to begin with...for purposes she is and was a professional singer....if she hasn't gotten signed by now, with all the back-up vocals she's done, there's a reason for that! I've said from the beginning it would be blake and jordin in F2 and that Jordin would win. |

who gives a fuck if Jordin is Pro-Life?? does that make her a bad person? people are so fucking closed minded to people with different views... it's sad.
I'm pro-choice but she's still my favorite this year. The things people will gloom onto in order to bash someone.... just makes me shake my head in utter amusement. |

Yeah I don't see why people get so worked up about some people's personal beliefs. I'm pro-life so it doesn't bother me in the slightest but even if I wasn't I'd still be like whatever, it's her business what she believes in.
Only if some contestant came on the show with some fucked up, radical, bigoted or completely intolerant views would I have a problem. |

well sucks, keep in mind this is the same group that claimed Mandisa hated gays cuz she sang a gospel song last year. *eyes*

Re: .. Jordin to lose | ||

^ ILGE that is NOT why gays didn't like Mandisa. I don't give a shit if someone is religious as long as they aren't preachy about it. Melinda seems VERY religious, and I love her. It doesn't matter. Mandisa however has admitted she was not comfortable performing at gay events, and her "idol" has a website that has links to places where gays can go to be "normal".
Anyway... Quote: Improving? I haven't seen it. Growing...physically yes. Performance-wise, not at all. |

Quote: I disagree but that's cool. I think Jordin improved a great deal from the beginning of the competition to the very end. I always thought she connected well with the songs and her ability to "perform" was really impressive (to me). She could convey something with the the way she would raise her eyebrow... I think she's adorable. She's very personable and comes across as very sweet and genuine. LMAO at the chop...she is a giant compared to Ryan! |

ILGE, you know I lurves ya. I liked Mandisa until I heard about her feelings about gays. It's kinda natural to have less respect for someone when you hear they really don't like your "kind".
And we didn't agree about Kat last season either. But we always have Boomie. :) |

Re: .. Jordin to lose | ||

Mandisa clearly was intolerant of gay people and those are the kind of views I have a problem with.
Being pro-life isn't an intolerant view. Just because Jordin may be pro-life herself doesn't mean she's intolerant of people who are pro-choice which is why I see no issue with it. I lost respect for Mandisa too when it turned out she wasn't gay friendly and she started getting all preachy and holier than thou. Melinda was clearly a religious person and very devoted to her faith and church going but she never got preachy. I just don't like people who force their religion or views on people, even if they do it just a little bit, it's still annoying. Mandisa's crap about circumstance and lifestyle just put me over the edge after her performance. |

Re: Jordan Love | ||
Quote: How can Jordin sing anything? She has struggled on almost all her non-ballad songs. On her ballads, she frequently goes off-pitch and does that strange gasping for air like she's a water creature learning to adjust to oxygen. For all her success with one or two ballads, she's not exactly going to be able to release a CD full of ballads. I know the studio will produce better uptempo tracks than she can live, but she has a long way to go before she is going to be comfortable with songs which aren't very old ballads. Carrie was going to have success with or without Idol because she had a genre ready and waiting for her. What does Jordin have? Disney doesn't move CD sales. Gospel is a tough market for AI. She's not exactly going to sing today's R&B songs. Her entire story on American Idol has been, "She's young and cute and she's amazing!!" Nothing about what she can actually sing or how she can be marketed. They were trying the whole Kelly ripoff by saying she "constantly improved", only to finally stop that when she went from improving to stagnating, at best. She's going to be forced to completely change her body and her image when she wins. Not something I look forward to seeing, and I'm not sure how prepared she is for what she is going to hear. I also worry about how a 17-year old with this big title is going to be exploited by people who will use her name and her fame for their own causes. She has already appeared at the conservative rallies, and she will only give them more cachet if they have an American Idol on their side. She's been training for years to be a talent show winner. Most of this season has been all about how she deserves to win because...AI wants her to win. In all this they have not given me much reason to vote for her. I vote for someone because I want to hear their music, or because I care enough about them that I want to see them win. I don't feel that way about Jordin, because her performances are not strong enough and the show has spent so many weeks treating her so differently than everyone else (for 3 weeks now she has had her results before anyone else - they have always had the last three hear their results together until this season). They seem to be so focused on making sure everyone knows how special she is that I don't have the need to see her win, when she basically already has won. If she wins, which she probably will, then I'm happy for her, but I can't tell you the last time any of her performances (although some of them have been great) made me want to pick up the phone and vote for her. It's almost the opposite. The more they have botched how to promote her and how to make people like her, the more I wonder about what crap she will have to do once she is their big star. The whole thing seems so desperate, like Ruben all over again. |

Re: Jordan Love | ||

Yeah I'm a little scared for Jordin if she does win in regards to her image. I personally think it's great that she's a bigger girl and I think that's good for a lot of girls to see today. However I don't think the people who will be working with her and trying to promote her are very interested in making her a role model for girls. Her parents have probably always told her she's beautiful and she's grown up with a good opinion of herself because of having supportive parents, and now that might change and that could be really bad for her mental and physical health hearing that she should lose weight and change.

That's one of my worries with her. I know she's going to hear this type of crap whether she wins or not, but I hate to see her have to starve herself. I know a lot of people like to make fun of Kelly's weight, but I'm glad she never caved to the pressure of going anorexic post-Idol.

Re: Jordan Love | ||

Yeah in this respect it kind of sucks that Jordin is so young. If she was maybe in her 20s she'd be less susceptible to crap like that after Idol but still in her teens she might be eager to please. She seems close with her family and her parents though so hopefully they'll keep her in check and continue to have positive influence on her in regards to body image.

I find her to be relatively versatile and should be able to sing almost anything.
I'm hoping she wins. |

Re: Jordan Love | ||

In regards to versatility I have to say at least she tries. You know "Heartbreaker" and "Living On A Prayer" weren't the greatest but I kind of enjoyed each of them because I like her voice and she went out there and did her thing, she tried to do some different songs and not just stay in that diva box like people tried to put all the divas in.
