Finally watched last week's premiere episode. Hopefully, the rest of the season will be as good as the premiere. I can't imagine having to live with
that Old West mentality, having to fight to hang onto everything you have. The naked dude is my fave so far.

I thought the second episode was also pretty good and I am digging this show.
That gassifier thing was really cool. Old computer geek is proving to be a real asset to survival, first the water filtration system and now the gassifier. The grumpy old handyman needs to get that huge chip off his shoulder. Yeah, I agree that just because someone has a PhD or an MD behind their name doesn't make them the be all and end all, but that douchebag needs to acknowledge that these guys have had some great ideas that have been working. I agreed with the one guy who expressed in his confessional that he was ashamed of himself for them stealing the food from the two guys who appeared to be living in that tent. I would hope I wouldn't resort to stealing from others who had so little and leaving them with nothing. Not cool. Besides, if this were real, most likely those two guys would have had guns or something and shot them for trying to steal their supplies. Those goats are so cute. They better keep convict away from those goats so they don't become dinner. They would be better off using them for milk & cheese as it is a replenishing source. If they slaughter them, they'll only have short-term food. I'm really enjoying this and it's very informative. Now I know that if I survive some apocalyptic disaster, I want to find an old computer geek and an engineer to build cool gadgets. Can't wait to see what they do to that truck. LOL. |

That will actually deplete their own resources, plus be an added threat to security. The gassifier thing was hella interesting. I had no idea that burning wood could do that. |

tarzan groupie wrote:Ah, that's a valid point. Hopefully the goats got the memo that they are on a reality show about surviving after an apocalyptic event and they will make themselves very low maintenance and produce milk like crazy so as to not become dinner themselves. I think since the mama goat has a baby, she'll produce milk without extra coaxing. I also remember seeing some shots last week of planter boxes somewhere with something green growing. So, maybe they have some planters of grass for them. I'm not against eating animals by any means, but those little suckers were so cute. Especially the baby when the guy was running from the sinister hoodlums carrying the tiny little thing. I'm sure they'll end up roasting on a spit in the near future, though. Although, if crabby old handyman keeps up his obnoxious behavior, I think someone should throw out the option of cannibalism and eat him and spare the cute goats. |

I loved the part with the traders last night.
But I still don't understand why they gave away all 157 oranges! |

This show.
I'm a little over the two Alpha Males and their yelling about EVERYTHING!!!!! I thought only bringing out part of the oranges and making like it was a feast was a GOOD idea. That's like going to the store and saying "I have this much" (holds out wad of bills) "Is this enough?" Not too great of a job on the barter, IMO. |

Anybody still watching? I caught the last three eps last night and am loving how well these people can sell the idea of post-apocalyptic L.A. right there in
real L.A. It's a stretch sometimes (I saw a plane flying when Joey was hoisting the water heater), but brilliantly done.
If I was the owner of that orange tree, I'd be one pissed awf Angeleno. And they actually ate a fish from that river? Ick. I'm confused though -- the fireworks to signal Curious George didn't go off, and everyone shambles back inside. But then in the fadeout, they're going off in black and white. Was that a preview? And George gets a final confessional, EPMB style. Did I miss something? |

I was really hoping they would 'kill' someone off... how exciting! Too bad it was Dr. George though... he was the cutest of the guys.
I doubt he'll be back. I wonder if the producers came to him beforehand and told him to split off from the group so they could extract him from the experiment. What a great show... |

George won't return. I went to discovery to check out the DVD pre order and they have a cast photo with 11 people, George missing. I'd assume it was
from the end of the show.

Yum. And I know what happened to George the Doctor. That hospital George disappeared into? That was the same hospital from season one of Dexter. (Check them out standing in front of the hospital sign!) George was captured by the Ice Truck Killer! I am sure George is having his limbs severed one by one as we speak. Poor George. And poor "The Colony" LA sewer drinking/fish eating warehousemates. Yuk!

Yeah I THOUGHT that dilapated hospital looked familiar! I thought Dexter immediately, too, but dismissed 'cuz I thought they shot on location in Miami
like Burn Notice does.
Oh gee: morons stranded in a forlorn environment and considering rats as a food source. Where oh where have we ever seen that before? Plus those rats looked like well fed lab rats. Anyone else ever seen a cute street rat with a brown & white cow coat of fur? Most adorable rodents I've seen since since evah. The increasingly crazed-looking professor with the "ozonator" -- how cool! The dumbasses in the warehouse falling for the producers' latest twists -- what morons! Still, maybe there are some true Stockholm syndrome mental issues running around in there. Vlad can dance! Snugglebunnies forthcoming in real life with the blonde bitch. (And btw wtf with her odd wardrobe choices?) The 70's Santa Monica pier film wrecked me. I knew immediately as a seasoned Sucktonian that that will be the spot they're released from the experiment, but damn. Powerful stuff. My bet is that the exit psychologist for this show has a lot more on his/her hands with these people than the average Survivor/BB/TAR shrink. |

Piranhahaha wrote: What is scarier yet is that the professor got these idiots to drink LA RIVER WATER WITHOUT EVEN BOILING IT! Blow some air-pump bubbles through a bucket of filthy, disgusting, contaminated, polluted, more-parts-fecal-matter-than-h2o LA River water? The Professor is all "Yum! Do you smell the Ozone as you drink this?" The idiots are all "Yeah!" OMG! YUK!, idiots! I am convinced that the warehousemates will turn into a mutant breed of killers once they are released from this "experiment." God help LA. Don't ever be a roommate with one of these people... "DID YOU EAT MY YOGURT FROM THE 'FRIDGE?" AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!! |

I love this show, especially because it really seems as though the "volunteers" are really fully psychologically involved in this. It is making it
pretty realistic.
I freaking love crazed-looking professor. That computer engineer always comes up with the coolest ideas. I definitely want him around if the world starts coming to an end. Vlad is another one who I think is of the most value. The previews show a recon mission next week, so I am guessing they are going to get George back next week. At this point, I am guessing they are going to end the "experiment" with all of them in the finished truck and riding into the sunset in search of greener pastures. And I agree with Piranhahaha that the psychologists working with this show are going to have a huge task ahead of them getting these people back to reality. |
