Illinois.
About 5.5 hours north to south (add 1 hr if going through Chicago area). About 2.5 hours east to west. |

Minnesota takes about 3-4 hours, I guess.
Wisconsin, by the way, is about the same distance, but takes longer depending on how you drive: a) 3-4 hours plus about 5-10 minutes needed to remove your plates and replace them with Wisconsin plates or b) 7-8 hours, which is the amount of time it takes to drive across at EXACTLY THE SPEED LIMIT, no more, no less, plus the time it takes for being pulled over about five times anyway just for spite. |

It takes about five hours from the Oregon border to the Bay Area (perhaps even a little less if you don't stop), 6-7 hours from the Bay Area to Orange County, and at most two hours from OC to the border. Its not a 15-16 hour trip. Then Eureka to San Fran?1) A little over four hours 2) About five hours, more if you reach the valley between 5AM and 10AM and 4PM and 9PM. 3) About three and a half hours 4) I don't remember this distance as well, but I think it was around three hours. Don't quote me on that, though. 5) It takes about 9 hours from Grand Canyon National Park to El Paso. 6) This distance is usually measured in DAYS, not hours. It takes about 9-10 hours from El Paso to San Antonio, and around 4-5 hours from San Antonio to Houston. Tack on another hour and a half to get from Houston to the state border. 7) Around three hours. 8) Can't say. Never made that route before. |

It takes forever to drive anywhere in BC. The "highways" are more like scenic routes. At least, they are in the Okanogan/Shuswap Area. Even Trans
Canada can be a bitch to drive. Plus, there are little towns everywhere in between. It's beautiful though. I'm looking forward to the divided Trans
Canada Highway from Kamloops to Calgary. That should save some time.

VA.
It's a weird triangular shape, so from VA Beach (Atlantic Ocean) to deep, deep southwest (like Blacksburg) can be 5-7 hours east-west. Northern VA to the NC state line on 95 is 3-4 hours, no traffic. 6-8 hours on a bad day. |
