Generally, the prize package for a Miss Universe is around $250,000. They used to give out fur coats, but that's why Bob Barker stopped hosting the contest in the late 1980s.

There's been a withdrawal: Jewel Selver of the Turks & Caicos. There are conflicting reports as to why she quit one day before the contest. Officially, they say that she's dehydrated. But there are rumors that she left because she was being made fun of by some of the contestants, as well as being mocked and slammed by pageant fans on the Internet for being too short and too fat. She will appear in the pre-taped opening of the telecast, however.
